Happy 100th birthday, Women’s Suffrage:
A look through story telling at women’s history to achieve the vote from the start to the climatic conclusion Aug. 26, 1920 - a 72 year battle

Fredie D. Kay is Founder and President of the Women’s Suffrage Celebration Coalition of Massachusetts (“WSCC”), suffrage100ma.org

An attorney and advocate for women’s rights, in addition to the WSCC, Fredie Kay is a member of the Equal Pay Coalition of Massachusetts, participating in its successful effort to legislate the Equal Pay Act, signed into law in July 2016.  She serves on the Women’s Vote Centennial Initiative Task Force of the National Women’s Party, as well as the Votes for Women National Trail Committee of the National Collaborative of Women’s History Sites (NCWHS).

Fredie Kay also serves in leadership positions for a number of organizations, including the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC), the Advisory Board of the Community Dispute Settlement Center (CDSC), the Advisory Council of EMERGE Massachusetts, and the Advisory Committee of the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action (JALSA).  She was a 2016-2017 Fellow in the Access to Justice Program, a project of the Massachusetts Access to Justice Commission and the Lawyers Clearinghouse.

Ms. Kay began her legal career at Goodwin Procter LLP, after which she served as Deputy Legal Counsel to Governors Michael Dukakis and William Weld.  Ms. Kay was appointed Director of the Massachusetts Office of Dispute Resolution, where she served from 1993-2000.

Fredie earned her J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center; M.P.A. at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government; and B.A. in Government and Politics at the University of Maryland.  Fredie has two children: Daughter Samantha is a first year medical student at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, and son Taylor is a Junior at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut.
