Our speaker today was our new District Governor
Penny Hamel. Her theme for the District this year is
“Peace”.
“Peace”.
Peace is more than the absence of war; it encompasses
all aspects of life. A people who are economically
secure, have adequate food and shelter, etc. will have
no stomach for conflict. To this end, Penny began her
term by being installed Governor by an old friend of hers
(and mine), Mark Skolnic, a former member of the
Westford Club who since has moved to Florida where
he served as a Rotary District Governor. Mark is Jewish
and Penny is an Arab. This friendship pairing is not unique
to either Rotary or our District.
