Club Grants $11050 in Service Grants for 2017

At the March 2017 board meeting, the board reviewed, discussed and then voted which organizations will be awarded Rotary Service Grants for 2017. Out of 20 organizations who submitted Service Grant requests this year to the club, 9 were awarded a Service Grant to support their specific project. Full list below. The funds for Service Grants are generated primarily thru the annual December Auction fundraiser, and the funds awarded this year totalled $11,050. In 2016, the club awarded $!5,020 in Service Grants across 15 organizations. In 2015 the club awarded $14,500 in Service Grants across 16 organizations. Rotary Area of Focus: Peace and conflict prevention/resolution

$1050 MetroWest Mediation Services - to train 2 additional mediators to help with cases in the Framingham District court system
Rotary Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

$1000 HOPE Worldwide Framingham Food Pantry - to purchase of personal hygiene products that can be made available to pantry clients
Rotary Area of Focus: Maternal and child health

$1500 Boys & Girls Club of Metrowest - to provide 1 week summer camp scholarships to 10 at-risk kids
$1000 Family Promise Metrowest - to provide childcare, after school care, summer camp to allow parents working with Metrowest to pursue job training

$1000 Programs for People - to provide printers, computers, and testing software to aid staff in helping clients with job seeking

$1000 Amazing Things Art Center - to clean up an abandoned lot and create a fenced community "pocket park"
$ 500 Framingham Housing Authority/Police Dept. - to support the annual National Night Out public safety and community event
$1500 A Place to Turn - - to provide frozen easy to prepare food for elderly clients of the food pantry
$2000 Bethany Hill Place - to replace antiquated fencing at the onsite community garden that residents rely on
