Brookline, Massachusetts

“I had a fantastic time.”

“it seems to be getting better every year!

“Congratulations in building this very best of community events”
“…very inspiring”

Once again, on Saturday, November 5, eight Brookline notables showed off their new and hard earned dancing shoes while raising about $190,000 for eight local charities.
Each Brookline Star was given 10 dance lessons before twinkling their toes before 450 cheering friends and supporters.  The winner this year for Best Fundraiser and the winner of the Judges Choice Award for Dance Performance went to Hsiu-Lan Chang who was dancing for Kids Clothes Club.  Though the dancing is fun, the main objective is to raise money for local deserving organizations.  The event is the only single community fund raiser in Brookline that supports eight different, deserving, local organizations. This year’s Stars and their charities included:
Melanee Alexander                         Calculus Project
Kara Brewton                                   Brookline Early Education Program
Hsiu-Lan Chang                                Kids Clothes Club
Dr. John Hermos                               Brookline-Quezalquaque Sister City Project
Reverend Jeffrey Mello                   Brookline Food Pantry
Betsy Pollock                                     Brookline Senior Center
Dr. Gloria Rudisch                             Jennifer Lynch Committee Against Domestic Violence
Chuck Silverston                               Brookline Education Foundation
This was the fourth Dancing with the Brookline Stars.  In its four years, Brookline Rotary and Dancing with the Brookline Stars has helped to raise over $500,000.
