April 2017 - Grants Approved Total $10,035

1.       Girls to Women – Funded  $1,000 -  The mission of Girls to Women is to improve the self-sufficiency of girls and women in NW.  These funds will be used to help put on the 2017 Girls to Women Conference.

2.       Integrated Community – Funded $ 1,200 -Integrated Community’s mission is to proactively promote and support and support successful integration of the immigrant and local community members. These funds will be used to create a program from 1st-5th graders that will help expose them to the English language before school starts in the fall. Hopefully, avoiding the summer slide in linguistic and literacy skills that the students learned the year before.

3.       NW CO Community Health Partnership – Funded $ 2,000  These funds will be be used to help launch the “music with a vision” project for Yampa Valley Youth.  This program will be geared toward providing a safe, sober, positive and drug free environment for youth to enjoy music events.

4.       Opera Steamboat – Funded $1,500 – These funds will be used towards a series of vocal workshops for the special needs community of Routt County.  The workshops are intended to increase vocal ability, self-confidence mindfulness and competence.

5.       Routt County Council on Aging – Funded - $935.00 - Routt County Council on Aging works to determine the needs of the Seniors of Routt County and to make every effort to meet those needs while helping them achieve the highest level of independence. These funds will be used to provide shelf stable meals to Senior members of our community in Routt County.

6.       Steamboat Art Museum – Funded $ 1,000 - One aspect of the Steamboat Art Museum is to engage members of our community to better understand and appreciate art. These funds will be used to provide a youth education outreach program. Specifically allowing for over 100 of our 5th grade students to go and experience the Steamboat Art Museum while learning about are and art appreciation.

7.       Steamboat Tennis Center - Funded $1,400 - The Steamboat Tennis Center works to strengthen our community and support our youth through the healthy life long sport of tennis. These funds will be used to help get two new youth tennis groups off the ground. The first is a “Girls Club” intended for young ladies between 11 and 14. The second is for all teens between the ages of 14-18.

8.       Strings Music Festival – Funded $ 1,000. Strings mission is to present innovative programs of distinctive classical and popular contemporary music in an intimate setting to audiences of all ages, enhancing the cultural and entertainment experiences of the community of Northwest Colorado and its visitors. These funds will be used to fund the “Strings School Days program. This program brings Strings programs into the schools and exposed students to the art and education behind playing a strings instrument.
