  • Rita’s House – Ray thanked the members who have volunteered for the June 8th effort to work on Rita’s House in Elizabeth, PA. helping a 60 plus-year-old Navy Veteran on her 100-year-old home in replacing/upgrading doors. The Rotary Club of Pleasant Hills is helping to fund the work.
Speaker – Associate Pastor Matthew Fricker – John McMillan Presbyterian Church
Prior to becoming Associate Pastor Matthew was a member of the US Army from 1999 to 2008 during which he served in Iraq. Matt is currently the high school coordinator for the New Wilmington Missionary Conference. His primary responsibilities will be to oversee Christian Education and Youth Ministries.
President Panos presented a check to Matthew and his Youth Ministry as their share of the proceeds from the Club’s 60th Pancake Festival in recognition of their efforts to help the Club on their annual fundraiser.
John thanked the Club for the funding and expressed appreciation to the Club for their contribution to the South Hills community and the example they set for the youth in the community in serving the needs of others.
Fourteen students in the Youth Ministry provide services to people in need in West Virginia and Kentucky. Recently they have traveled to Big Creek, Kentucky near Daniel Boone Forest repairing and revamping houses damaged by floods and in need of changes to provide improved access to handicapped senior citizens. The Youth Ministry works with other local organizations to implement the work.
Jim Hinerman noted that Matthew and his Youth Group has also provided their services last year in helping homeowners in Bethel Park who were impacted by flooding resulting from heavy rains.
