COMMITTEE MEETING - Elizabeth handed out the Rotary calendar for the upcoming year as well as a flyer for the club’s upcoming ‘Fireside Chat’ to be held on July 30th, 5:30pm at the Farmington Gardens. Feel free to bring a guest or prospect, and share 'your Rotary story’.  The goal is to show new Rotarians and prospects the value of being a Rotarian, and for some fellowship & fun!

Elizabeth recapped the upcoming years’ service projects and handed out folders to each service project chair, and spoke of the first meeting of every month being a committee meeting to update on each service projects progress. She let the club know that this new format will help alleviate the need to meet in the evenings out of respect for everyone’s time.  This also will foster a more inclusive hands-on club.

Mike Freeman was the first committee chair to update the club on the ‘12th Annual Farmington Rotary Trail Race’ to be held on September 22nd, at the Tunxis Mead in Farmington.  Mike Freeman was so thrilled that Jenn Diederich will be co-chairing the event with him, and taking care of all the administrative details of the event outside of the runners.  Thanks Jenn!!  There are two major phases of this event, and we’re currently in phase one which is our fundraising phase.  Phase two will begin nearer to the event where the club will be soliciting for runner prizes, etc.  Mike will be working with his committee to finalize all the details and create momentum around the event.

Phil Chabot updated briefly on our ‘First Responders Appreciation Breakfast’ to be held on September 11th at the Farmington Community Center.  Phil shared some ideas that he has so far for the event, and asked his committee to plan on staying a few extra minutes after our Rotary meeting next week.

Elizabeth and Mike Cheshire closed the meeting with updates around the club’s end of year giving, totaling over $28,000 in donations/support.
