Service Beyond the Club Level
The RI Board of Directors is composed of 19 members -- the president as chair, the president-elect, and 17 other directors nominated by the clubs in zones as specified in the RI By-Laws (there are approximately 15 Rotary Districts per zone) and elected by the RI Convention to serve for terms of two years. Each director, although nominated by the clubs in a certain zone, is elected at the convention by all the clubs, thereby placing on each director the responsibility of representing all clubs in the administration of Rotary world-wide.
- Be a member in good standing of a Rotary Club in the Zone from which elected.
- Have served as District Governor for a full term with at least three years of time having elapsed since service as a governor.
- Have attended at least two institutes and one convention in the 36-month period prior to being proposed.

The Rotary Club of Killeen Heights is a member of Rotary District 5870 which is currently composed of 64 Rotary Clubs geographically ranging from Itasca, Hillsboro and Corsicana in the north to Shiner, Hallettsville and Yoakum in the south. A District Governor, who is an elected officer of Rotary International and who represents the RI board of directors in the field, leads District 5870 and is charged with the duty of (1) furthering the Object of Rotary by providing leadership and supervision of the clubs in the district and (2) ensuring continuity within the district by working with past, current, and incoming district leaders in fostering effective clubs.
To service as District Governor, a Rotarian must:- Be a member in good standing of a Rotary Club in the district.
- Have completed seven years of membership in one or more clubs.
- Have attended the Governors-Elect Training Seminar (G.E.T.S) and International Assembly.
- Have full qualifications for membership in the strict application of club membership provisions, and the integrity of the Rotarian's classification must be without question.
- Have served as president of a club for a full term or be a charter president of a club having served the full term from the date of the charter to 30 June, provided that this period is for at least six months.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the qualifications, duties, and responsibilities of governor as prescribed in the RI By-Laws.
- Demonstrate the willingness, commitment, and ability, both physically and otherwise, to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the office of governor as provided in the RI By-Laws.
