AUGUST PRESIDENT'S COMMENTS August is Rotary Membership and New Club Development month. South Tyler Rotary is off to a great start in the area of membership. If you haven’t heard, we’ve welcomed quite a few new members into our club, as well as some returnees. Please welcome each of them to our club!

2020 GRANT APPLICATIONS
South Tyler Rotary is now accepting grant applications from the proceeds of our 2020 Reed Franklin “No Dinner” Spaghetti Dinner. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and members, South Tyler Rotary is still able to award grants to local non-profits, despite not holding our annual fundraising event.
A South Tyler Rotary member must sponsor the grant application. Please share the application and application instructions to nonprofits with which you work, serve on the board or support.

District Governor for Rotary International District 5830
Jack Welge is a native of Austin, Texas and lawyer in practice for 41 years. He is a past Chair of the Aviation Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. Jack is Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Jack currently also serves on the Aviation Law Section Board Certification Committee working to create a Board Certification in Aviation Law in Texas.
Jack is a panel member of the Airplane Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Legal Services Panel, and holds Life Memberships in both the AOPA and Experimental Aviation Association (EAA). The primary concentration of his law practice currently is representing Airmen.
Jack is a past President of the Rotary Club of Longview with 40 consecutive years perfect attendance, and is currently District Governor Elect for Rotary International District 5830. He serves as South Central Chair of the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians (IFFR) and Chair of the IFFR Safety Committee. He and his wife Ava, also an active Rotarian, are Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation.
Jack has served as a Vestry (Board) Member for Trinity Episcopal Church, Longview where he and his family have attended since 1977, and has served as a Member of the Board of Trustees of Trinity School of Texas. He served first as Board Member, then as Counsel for the East Texas Association For Abused Families, now the Women’s and Children’s Center of East Texas, has been named as a Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by Lone Star Legal Aid, and has served as a Co-chair of the Professional Division of Gregg County United Way.
He and his wife of 42 years, Ava, reside in Longview, and have two successful grown daughters, both Paul Harris Fellows, and two rescue dogs, a Border Collie and Vizsla.
