Literacy Council of Tyler Spelling Bee! South Tyler Rotary will have a loud and proud table of members to support Clint Henderson and Kathi White as our spellers. If you would like to join the table, please let Brandie know and she will reserve your seat. This years’ theme is movies – our movie is Despicable Me! Eyeglasses need! Do you have a few old pairs of eyeglasses laying around? Dr. Jacob West of West Vision in Tyler partners with sight.org to provide glasses to West Africa. If you would like to donate, either drop by West Vision at 2547 Elkton Trail (near Fresh), or bring them to a meeting or social event and Beth will deliver them to West. Thanks in advance!

Club Visioning –
South Tyler Rotary will be participating in Club Visioning with leaders from our district. This is an opportunity to define our path for the next three years. This will be on Saturday, August 28th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Women's Building on South Broadway. Please let Beth know if you would like to participate. We will limit our participant count to 24 members. This will be a high energy event!
Mike Groom was born in Austin, Texas and was raised in Houston, Texas. He is both a practicing certified public accountant (38 years) and lawyer (32 years). Mike currently resides in Mabank, Texas with his wife of 33 years, Andrea Myntti-Groom. Mike and Andrea have a son and daughter and two grandsons, all of whom they cherish deeply.
Mike has served as President of the Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake twice and in his second term, the Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake was awarded the Bill Campbell Award as the most outstanding club in District 5830. Mike joined the Rotary International in 1988 He joined Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake in 1997 and has served in virtually every role in his club. Mike is a RI Foundation Major Donor, member of the Paul Harris Society and a Rotary Foundation Benefactor. Mike believes in community service and has served as a director in the North Houston Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Cedar Creek Lake, Cedar Creek Non-Profit Housing, Inc. (Genesis Center), Henderson County HELP Center, the Henderson County Library and as a Trustee of the Presbyterian Hospital of Kaufman. He has also served as an officer and committee member for a number of community organizations.
Mike enjoys travelling, salt-water fishing, hunting in the Texas hill country, ranching and rooting for the Texas Longhorns.
