It's hard to believe the first two months of the Rotary year are behind us. We welcomed ten new members to our club. We heard from eight dynamic speakers at our meetings. Membership Chair Johnny Ortiz hosted an Orientation for New Members. Dalton Dickerson organized the Rotary Rubbish Round Up involving 10 members, 8 guests and 24 hours of community service. We donated $2,618 to the Nurse Family Partnership and approved $2,500 for disaster relief. I'd say we're off to a great start to a year with many uncertainties.
Basic education and literacy is one of The Rotary Foundation’s six areas of focus. We know that basic education and literacy are essential for reducing poverty, improving health, encouraging community and economic development, and promoting peace. During the month of September, South Tyler Rotary is hosting a BOOK DRIVE for the Literacy Council of Tyler. Bring books to our meetings or contact Brandie Henderson for pick up.

Shelbi Romo and her husband Antonio welcome their son Antonio Romo Jr., born September 1.
Scott Harrison announced he is relocating to Denver for a new position. We will miss Scott at STR.
Congratulations to Nancy Crawford on the announcement of her retirement October 1 and to Whitney Patterson as being name the new Literacy Council of Tyler Executive Director.
We miss our Rotary friends who cannot be with us at this time. We hope you take advantage of "attending" our meetings via YouTube.

South Tyler Rotary is now accepting grant applications from the proceeds of our 2020 Reed Franklin “No Dinner” Spaghetti Dinner.
