In a blink of the eye our first three months are behind us. Some people believe I am “counting” down to the end of the Rotary year. But, instead I worry it will be over before I know it. I’m thankful to each of you, our members, especially those who
help lead our club as board members, committee members and project chairs. This year is anything but normal and I am grateful that our club continues to thrive.
In September, our club generously donated towards Hurricane Relief efforts. Pass the hats netted around $500.00; PayPal donations another $265.00 and the club contributed some funds as well. Thank you to all who donated. We also collected books for the Literacy Council of Tyler.
October is shaping up to be a busy month for South Tyler Rotary. Carol Conover is coordinating a canned food drive and volunteer work day for the East Texas Food Bank (October 26th). Johnny Ortiz and Lee Montgomery will host a member orientation on October 13th. Von Johnson is putting the final touches on the Dining Out for Polio Plus on October 22nd. Also, I hope you take advantage of upcoming free Rotary training seminars on October 10th and October 31st.
Rotary International Recognizes October as “Economic and Community Development” month. Join us at our meetings for great programs from Tom Mullins and Don Proudfoot, along with a Real Estate Round Table. Thank you, John Hart, for lining up our programs for October!
I’m excited about our October opportunities! Hope to “see” you at some of them.
In Rotary Spirit,
Diane Kavanaugh
