HO HO HO! It is officially Christmas time and STR is on the move making a difference! We just completed the 4th annual Rotary Clubs of Tyler Christmas Parade which brought in thousands to Downtown Tyler. With combined forces, we built 42 literacy boxes to go around our community which has kicked of the #ReadersAreLeaders Project in Smith County. We have lots of exciting events coming up such as the bike build, Salvation Army Bell Ringing and our annual Christmas Celebration! This time of year is crazy for us all but I want you to know that I am thankful for your time to making this organization so successful.

Membership Dues - Dues for January to June 2019 should be paid by December 31st. You will receive an email from Treasurer Tom Seale or you can pay at any of the December meetings. If for any reason you do not plan to renew with the South Tyler Rotary, please contact Amanda Folmar or Tom Seale as soon as possible.
New Member Orientation, December 4th - New members are invited to an orientation on Tuesday, December 4th at 5:00 p.m. at Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar located at 6523 S Broadway Ave. We'll provide the conversation. Any food or beverage is on your own.
Bike Build for Salvation Army, December 6th - Join us on Thursday, December 6th to build bikes for the Salvation Army. If you'd like to donate $50.00 for a bike, please bring a check made payable to Pollard United Methodist Church to Monday's meeting. See Lee Montgomery or Tom Seale. Bell Ringing for Salvation Army, December 13th - New location this year! Join South Tyler Rotary as we ring the bells for the Salvation Army. We'll be at the Chick-fil-A on South Broadway from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Those volunteering get a free meal courtesy of STR member Jeff Johnston.
Christmas Lunch, December 17th - Our December 17th meeting is the Christmas lunch. Texas Roadhouse will cater again this year. Cost is $15.00 per person and you have your choice of steak or chicken. We must have an accurate headcount, so please sign up at the meeting or contact Carol Conover to RSVP.
December Board Meeting, December 17th - Our December board meeting is scheduled for 1:00 after our meeting.

Nancy Crawford
Nancy Crawford joined South Tyler Rotary in April 2010. She served as Club President for 2017/2018. Nancy is a Paul Harris Fellow.
Nancy is a native Tylerite since birth, having only left for 2 years to complete here bachelor's at Stephen F. Austin. She is a Texas Certified public school teacher who spent 6 years with TISD, 10 years homeschooling her two daughters and serving as Executive Director the last 28 years at Literacy Council of Tyler.
What's your favorite family tradition?
The large extended family get together we have every Christmas.
What's something you want to do in the next year that you've never done before?
Have my grandchildren fly from Virginia without their parents to visit for a week. And that is going to happen in April. I am totally pumped about it.
