Thank you all who attended our Awards and Officer Installation banquet on June 28. We had over 100 people in attendance, said a big THANK YOU to Immediate Past President Diane Kavanaugh for her year of service, recognized 5 significant community servants in Tyler, and installed our Board of Directors for 2021 – 2022.
Serving our club this year for Service & Social is the committee comprised of Brandie Henderson, Jarad Kent and Jeff Cummings. We will have a calendar full of events this year. Some will be more focused on service, some will be social events, but all will be an opportunity for our club to be together, outside of our weekly meeting. If you serve on a board or volunteer with a non profit and would like to see STR more “plugged in” with your organization, please connect with Brandie / Jarad / Jeff with details. We will have some service opportunities every month, some quarterly, and some that occur one time a year. Our goal this year is to be known in our community as the “go to” service organization in Tyler.
One of my favorite moments from Spaghetti 2021 was looking at our assembly line – members of our club on both sides of a very long table, packaging the meal of spaghetti, salad, bread, and cookies. I loved so much hearing the conversation and connection between members old and new, sharing their story and getting to know each other. I am very excited for this year ahead, to see more of this connection and growth in our club.

Spaghetti Supper – still waiting on some money to come in, but to date we have raised $22,192.50. This will be a great amount to give out to our community this Fall. Thank you to all who helped with our Upside Down Spaghetti Dinner! We had a brain dump meeting recently and have some great ideas for Spaghetti 2022. We hope to have our traditional dinner but also will include some service to our community, much like we did for 2021.
