Thank you, South Tyler Rotary, for starting our new year off with excitement and enthusiasm. We had a great social at TXM and have so many great service opportunities coming up in August. I look forward to seeing our club engage with each other and with our community in the months to come.
In July we inducted new member Angela Bridges, transfer Mike Cromer and welcomed back former STR member Rusty Falling. We also inducted Honorary South Tyler Rotarian Patrick L Mahomes II, which was accepted by his dad, Pat Mahomes. Today we welcome new member Shannan Jones and welcome back former STR Kathy Gohmert.
We pinned several first time Paul Harris Fellows and a multitude of PHF “plus” this past month. I love seeing our club so committed to supporting the Rotary International Foundation. This year a Paul Harris Fellow will be awarded solely based on service hours and a spirit of service to our community. Rich Davis will be keeping a record of service hours for our club.
The annual Christmas Parade is under STR leadership this year, with Kelly Williams bravely leading this event for the City of Tyler. Please mark December 2nd on your calendar and decide to support Kelly and our club with your commitment and participation.

Field Trip Coming AUGUST 9th! Please mark your calendar for this special event. We have been invited to UT Medical Pharmacy School for an on-site visit. There will notbe a meeting at First Christian Church that day. This is going to give us great insight to this program - please try to attend!

Club Visioning –
South Tyler Rotary will be participating in Club Visioning with leaders from our district. This is an opportunity to define our path for the next three years. This will be on Saturday, August 28th 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Women's Building on South Broadway. Please let Beth know if you would like to participate. We will limit our participant count to 24 members. This will be a high energy event!

Susan Thomae-Morphew is the executive director of the UT Tyler Cowan Center and has directed the Center for over twenty-one years. Prior to the Cowan Center she taught dance on the university level, directed her own dance company in Colorado, managed the City of Harlingen arts program, and worked for many non-profit organizations. She has created many alliances for arts disciplines and arts communities and provides consulting services for other universities. She has lived from coast to coast through her dance and arts management careers. A native Texan, Susan grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. Her credentials include a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Dance and a master’s degree in Theatre Arts Management. Her affiliations are with many arts organizations including Southwest Performing Arts Presenters and Association of Performing Arts Presenters.
