With Sincere Sympathy
We express our sincere sympathy to Dave Sherman and his family in the passing of his father. The following is a beautiful tribute Dave posted on his Facebook page:
"The Greatest Man I Ever Knew – The Real Dave Sherman
Yesterday Dad left this life for a better one, one with Mama Sara. After 96 years his body stopped working as it should. He loved The Lord, our mother, his kids, grandkids, great grand kids and his great great grandson. He loved his community of neighbors and church friends. His professional accomplishments were many including serving on state and national Home Builders Association Boards. He never went to college but was a local and state leader and was often on TV. Thank you, VHS! He had the foresight to write a book on our family history 20 years ago.
He taught us to pray, how to build stuff and how to think critically. He taught us to love our family, by example. He taught us how to respect ALL people in the tough Mississippi Delta, without using words, but by example. Overshadowing his professional accomplishments, he enjoyed helping others by handing out his home-made bread and pizzas. In his mid-nineties he volunteered at Baptist Hospital in Oxford, even after COVID, even after he couldn’t drive himself there. He’s the greatest man I ever knew and I got to call him Papa."

Grant Award Today
Today we award a $2,000 grant to East Texas Crisis Center, with Lana Peacock, Executive Director accepting the check. The grant will help support the Safe & Sound Protocol, a multisensory therapy program to support individuals experiencing problems with anxiety, depression, memory and sleep.

Valentine's Lunch
Monday, February 14th, we are inviting you to bring your spouse, significant other, or anyone you choose, as your Valentine's lunch guest. Please reply to this bulletin email if you plan to attend and bring a guest. We will also pass around a sign-up sheet at the meeting so that Jim can plan the meal count. Service & Social
Our next service opportunity is the East Texas Food Bank on February 10th at 5:30. We have 15 volunteers on the sign up sheet - we will pass it around again this week.
Tasty Tuesday is scheduled for February 15th. Please let Jeff Cummings know if you have a favorite spot to meet and we will add that to the calendar!
Reed Franklin Spaghetti Supper is tentatively scheduled for April 21st. President Elect Chris McLarry and PE Nominee Brandie Henderson will be leading the organization of this event with a goal of hosting our traditional on-site dinner and also bring back our community meal service from 2021. Watch for details and get excited to join us for this great event!
