Our “Season of Service” kicked off this weekend with the Tyler Rotary Clubs Christmas Parade. Thank you to all of our members who volunteered at the parade. This is our first time hosting a “Drive Thru” parade and we appreciate your willingness to help out. A special thank you to Beth Blaisdell and Jarad Kent for serving on the planning committee, as well as Jen Katz, Johnny Ortiz, Courtney Klepfer, Lee Montgomery and Art Mullen for behind the scenes work on the parade.
Check out our calendar of events for other service opportunities in December. Our bike build is full on December 12th, but you can still donate the cost of a bike for next year’s build. Join us for Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army on December 12th or December 16th. Thank you to Service Chair Dalton Dickerson for scheduling these great projects for South Tyler Rotary.
Thank you to Nan Moore for lining up our December “Christmas Celebration” programs. Our own Dave Sherman entertains us on December 7th. December 14th is the Tyler Legacy High School Choir. And, our December 21st meeting is member Michael Hurley and friends with the “Michael Hurley & The Hurltones” Quartet. We will hold a pass the hat on December 21st to donate funds to the Salvation Army.
I am proud of what our club has accomplished during these first five months of the year. I feel confident we will continue to thrive in 2021. I challenge each of you to find ways to make South Tyler Rotary stronger and more impactful in the new year.

South Tyler Rotarian Dave Sherman sings about real life experiences – family, faith, work, winning the Publisher’s Clearing House and Duct Tape! Dave walks his audiences through a lifetime of creative writing. He escorts his audiences from Mayberry to see Andy and Barney, to Alaska to witness the Gold Rush and to a hospital corridor to hear a baby girl being born.
Dave’s songs include hard-driving blues and laid-back folk tunes. His songs are wrapped around a voice that is as much a part of the Mississippi Delta as cotton fields and paddle wheels. He has shared the stage with such acts as with The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Blood Sweat & Tears, Livingston Taylor … and Preston.
