💧 March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month

Every March, Rotary International highlights one of its seven Areas of Focus: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). It’s a reminder that something many of us take for granted — clean water — is life-changing for families around the world.

Clean water is more than convenience. It means:

• Children stay in school instead of walking miles to collect water.

• Families avoid preventable waterborne diseases.

• Communities thrive economically.

• Women and girls gain time, safety, and opportunity.

Through the leadership of The Rotary Foundation, Rotary clubs worldwide have funded sustainable water systems, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education programs that create long-term impact — not temporary fixes.

Why It Matters

More than 2 billion people globally lack access to safely managed drinking water. That statistic isn’t just a number — it represents mothers, fathers, and children who deserve the dignity of safe water and proper sanitation.

Rotary projects focus on:

• Drilling wells and installing filtration systems

• Building and improving restroom facilities

• Teaching proper hygiene practices

• Partnering with local leaders to ensure sustainability

What Can South Tyler Rotary Do?
