PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

The COVID-19 concerns continue to impact STR, Tyler, Texas, the United States and virtually ALL of the world. For the first time in many years, we all are forced to return to a time of “simpler but safer” living conditions. Group meetings, normal shopping, normal dining, and even normal travel are still impacted. STR meetings have been eliminated for the present, but we hope to resume later in May (waiting on safe approvals by the church as well as government/health officials).

With the on-going COVID-19 concerns, Rotarians have the opportunity to serve more and care more for others! Our community, city, state, country and world need more “service” than ever before. How can we help as South Tyler Rotarians?

1. Support STR projects, plans, and initiatives - keep your dues “up to date” so that we can provide the financial support to Rotary as well as pay our financial obligations.
2. Support the 2020 No Dinner Spaghetti Dinner efforts with any amount of contributions you can afford. If you secured a 2020 sponsor, we need your help to ensure proper use of the designated funds; your 2020 “team captains and/or STR Leadership” will be contacting each of you with more information.
3. Give to the Rotary Foundation. Each of you received information on gift matching in our recent Rotary news-letter. Tom DeWitt has once again, LED the WAY in providing an excellent method to maximize gifts!
4. Give Blood at the Carter Blood Center or any another mobile Carter Blood Center unit. Please inform the Carter Blood representative that you are giving as a member of STR.
5. Help clean Bergfield Park on Monday, May 11. We are trying to put together a picnic meal and have a “brief club” outdoor meeting in conjunction with the park clean up. Tentative start time is 4 PM, but more information will be provided later this week.
6. Prayer and support for our STR members and the entire community, especially for the health care providers and emergency responders.
7. Give thanks for our health, freedoms, and ability to survive as Americans and Rotarians, in spite of COVID-19.
