September was another great month for STR! Our grant committee met and we have started awarding 19 local non-profits $22,000! Bishop T.K. Gorman recruited 41 new Interactor's!!! We have a busy month ahead of us with the District 5830 Conference in Longview, canned food drive and our first ever community self defense class! Keep up the SPOOK-tacular work, bring a friend & let's HAVE FUN!

No meeting Monday, October 8th due to the Columbus Day holiday
October Food Drive
During October, we'll hold a food drive to collect non-perishable food for the East Texas Food Bank. We are looking at a date in early November where the South Tyler Rotary members can volunteer at the Food Bank.
What items can be donated?
Non-perishable items such as: canned fruits and/or vegetables, evaporated milk and corn meal mix
Foods that are un-opened
Foods that are not in glass containers
Foods within expiration dates listed on the packaging
What are the most needed item?
Canned meats or fish (ham, Spam, pork, tuna and salmon)
District Conference October 19-20th - It's not too late to sign up! Registration now open. Cost is $40.00 and is just up the road in Longview. For more details, visit the District 5830 website.
Women’s Self Defense Class October 25th- Taught by Officer Jasper from the Tyler Police Department. Thursday October 25th at First Christian Church Gym from 5:30-7:00. This event is open to the public. Please share with family, friends and co-workers.
Bergfeld Park Clean Up October 29th - Join us for our quarterly clean up at 5:00 p.m. We'll meet on College Street in front of the tennis courts.

Join South Tyler Rotary at our first Women's Self Defense Class Thursday, October 25th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The class is at First Christian Church in the Family Life Center gym.
This is a free women's self defense class for all women! South Tyler Rotary is hosting this class for any woman wanting to learn safety techniques that could potentially keep her and her family safe in emergency situations. Tyler Police Department will teach and facilitate the class!
