March Madness club fundraiser - SOLD OUT! All of the spots for our March Madness club fundraiser are sold out. A random draw will tell you which team(s) you got in the selection. All you need to do now is watch some basketball (or not) and cheer for your team!

New Member Orientation, March 18th - New members are invited to an orientation on Monday, March 18th at 5:30 p.m. at Walk-On's Bistreaux & Bar located at 6523 S Broadway Ave. We'll provide the conversation. Any food or beverage is on your own.

Spaghetti Supper Update - Thanks to all of the members who have already turned in money and pledges. We're well on our way to meeting our $45,000 goal. Team DeWitt takes a commanding lead with over $3500.00 raised as of March 11th. All teams are on the board!

ROTARY SPOTLIGHT

Colleen Colby

I have 3 children, Morgan, a 14-year old girl, and two sons, Austin, 11 and Jack 9. I’ve been married 20 years and my hubby has worked in law enforcement since we’ve been married first as the SWAT team leader at BWI airport and currently as the Sergeant over financial crimes for Tyler PD. I work in communications & public relations in the transportation industry.

Even before having children I was focused on volunteer efforts for children. Since being in Tyler I’ve served on the CASA board for 6 years, the Discovery Science Place board for 6 years and was also honored to be president at DSP for a term. I’m currently on the WISD Education Foundation board and am also very active serving as an Assistant Cub Master for my son’s Cub Scout Troup.

Have you seen something lately that surprised you? Not much surprises me anymore, however, I saw a surf board on top of a car in Tyler that was surprising.

What's your favorite family tradition? Game nights (not video games - board games or dominoes), we usually end up playing Mexican Train but it can be any game.

What's something you want to do in the next year that you've never done before? I have lived and traveled the world extensively, so I’d like to visit a state I’ve never been to before maybe Missouri, Tennessee or Washington state or visit a National Park I’ve never been to before.

Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Marty L. Crawford joined Tyler ISD as Superintendent in 2014. Crawford holds a Bachelor of Education from Baylor University, a Master of Education from The University of Oklahoma and Doctor of Educational Administration from Texas A&M-Commerce. He currently serves on the Board of Directors with the Texas School Alliance, the Legislative Committee for the Texas Association of School Administrators, and as an advisor for Tyler’s Mentoring Alliance and the United Way of Smith County.

Crawford recently served on the Texas Education Commissioner’s Accountability Policy Advisory Committee. He was named an Ambassador for the School of Education at Texas A&M-Commerce, a LifeChanger Finalist by National Life, an Ambassador for the Friends of Texas Public Schools, and a Tyler Mentoring Alliance Champion of Youth.

A member of the Baylor University Athletics Hall of Fame, Dr. Crawford and his wife Alanna, an Advanced Director for The Pampered Chef, are proud parents of three children who all attend Tyler schools: two daughters, Ashton, a UT-Tyler B.S.N. student, TJC alum, and practicing RN; and A.J., a student at Dr. Bryan C. Jack Elementary School; along with one son, Jackson, who attends Robert E. Lee High School.
