One of Diane Kavanaugh's roles as President-Elect is to submit a proposal for a District Project Grant for next year. The proposals are due May 1st and the funding comes in this summer after she takes office. This year, our district grant is approximately $1,300, which requires a minimum match of least $1,300, for a minimum grant of $2,600.
The project we support will need to fall into one of the Rotary areas of focus:
Maternal and Children's Health
Economic Development
Water & Sanitation
Peace and Conflict Resolution
Basic Education/Literacy
Disease Prevention
This can be a local project or an international project (let's go local!). Talk with Diane ASAP about your suggestions and ideas for the grant; your input is needed before the STR board meeting on March 19th.

The next District Training Assembly is scheduled for April 4th in Tyler at First Christian Church. Any member is welcome to attend. Incoming board members and committee members are encouraged to attend.

Team Macaroni Alliance (Tara Hays) takes a commanding lead at $3,540 raised, in large part due to Breck Watson's strategy! Lasagna League $1,550 (Nan Moore) and Fettucine Force $1,400 (Nancy Crawford) are battling it out in a closely contested race. I hope none of our teams have thrown up the white flag! Fourteen members have turned in checks. Don't forget about our 100% member participation goal. Major Manicotti Tom DeWitt is a team of his own and has raise the 2nd most amount of money!
Members who turn in checks at this Monday's meeting will be entered into a drawing for 100 Paul Harris Fellow Points AND a Rotary themed engraved gift. Congrats to Pat Flanigan on her name being drawn last week! (Gifts created by Diane Kavanaugh at the Tyler Innovation Pipeline!)

With over 30 years of experience in regional and community economic development, Tom Mullins is President/CEO of the Tyler Economic Development Council, serving Tyler and Smith County since June 1989 and President/CEO of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, March 1992 to present. In 1997, 2002, and 2018 Tyler was recognized by the Texas Economic Development Council with the Community Economic Development Award for outstanding local development achievements. Tom served as Chairman of the Texas Economic Development Council Board for 2004-2005. In 2002, he was appointed to Governor Perry’s Council on Science and Biotechnology Development. From 1992 to 1993, he was President of Northeast Texas Economic Development Council, made up of economic and community development professionals from the 23-county region of Northeast Texas. In 1989, he was President of the Minnesota Industrial Development Council. Mr. Mullins has been a Certified Economic Developer since 1986 and holds a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in regional and community development.
