Professionally, I am the spokesperson for the Texas Department of Transportation’s Tyler District (TxDOT) which covers the surrounding eight counties. I have been with the department for 19 years (April 11). Personally, I am the proud mother of four wonderful young adults (2 girls, 2 boys) who are out there finding their way in the world through college and their professions. I moved to Tyler 4 ½ years ago for my job and  enjoying Round 2 of life here – I attended and graduated from TJC many years ago. I like spending quality time with family and friends, and volunteering for children’s causes. I am a Sustaining Member of Junior League of Lufkin and have served on many boards and committees. Look forward to working with STR.

What’s your favorite family tradition? I have a really big family and my favorite traditions are the biennial formal Christmas Soiree and the White Family Reunion. We’ve had massive family reunions every year since the 80s – with attendance upward of 100, and implemented the Christmas Party in 2013. We alternate between the two each year. 2019 will offer up a fabulously themed holiday soiree. I’m proud that my siblings and I have been able to keep the traditions going after losing both parents, and many older relatives. We also alternate between our generation and our kids’ generation to plan each event. So wonderful!

 

 

At little bit about me. Married to my wife Dawn for 22 years this year, with 2 kids - daughter Heather (19 yrs old) will be graduating next year from OBU with a Degree in Nutrition, Son Rush (17 yrs old) is graduating high school this spring from BrookHill in Bullard.  My wife and I have twenty plus years combined in Real Estate with me on occasion buying and selling businesses, with other investment ventures. We volunteer with our church, Bethel Downtown as well as other downtown projects like Heart of Tyler. I also have been involved in growing youth soccer in this area and officiating area high school soccer games. 

 

What's something you want to do in the next year that you've never done before? We'd like to take a Viking cruise up the Rhine River.
