In Dec. 2015, the Tyler Independent School District named Clayton George as the new Robert E. Lee High School head football coach during its regularly scheduled board meeting.

George was the assistance head coach and offensive coordinator at Southlake Carroll. The district won the 2002 and 2011 state championships with George as its offensive coordinator, marking an overall record of 115-21 during two separate tours and ten overall seasons.

 

 

 

 

“We are very excited to have Coach George as the new head coach at Robert E. Lee High School”, Greg Priest, Tyler ISD Athletics Director, said at the board meeting. “We searched for a leader with a proven track record at the 6A level who knows the actions and structure of a championship program on and off the playing field. Coach George’s background as a head coach in diverse districts, combined with his knowledge and experience at Southlake Carroll, make him a great asset for that campus and Tyler ISD.”
