Welcome to October. So far, the days are getting shorter, but the temperature is staying warm.
We’ve had a busy month with
- some great programs;
- a couple of service projects;
- helping with the city’s effort to collect more peanut butter than Tyler for the East Texas Food Bank;
- a stellar classification talk by Casey Beddingfield;
- Interact meetings;
- and more.
Speaking of service projects: We had two folks at Heartisan’s on Sept. 13 and seven people at our quarterly street cleanup on Sept. 14. We’re grateful for anyone who can participate, but we’d also like to increase our numbers. As we let you know they are scheduled, make a plan to be there and call a friend and offer to meet them there. Let’s live up to our image as “Action Club of the Action District!”
We had a board meeting on Sept. 24. At it, Membership Chair Kathy Rae said she had a meeting of her committee for Sept. 30. With six people in attendance, it was a great meeting. Be looking for what’s to come from that.
Also, World Polio Day is coming Oct. 24. That’s a big one for Rotary. As it nears, keep in mind what can happen if we let up on the effort to eradicate polio.
And save the date: Our Christmas party this year will be on Thursday, Dec. 19, at Anne and Jim Hugman’s house. Plan to be there!
