Our meeting included 2 speakers this week. We welcomed Elizabeth Barse from Dottie's Kitchen as well as Nichole Post who was speaking to us about The Southern Tier Community Center at Children's Home of Wyoming Conference (former Boys & Girls Club in Endicott).
Elizabeth shared her story & how Dottie’s Kitchen came about. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needy in our community, providing them with nutritious homemade meals.Their team prepare and serve meals to those who may be struggling to put food on the table. In my notes, one of the standouts within her story was that she has partnered with Bing Univ “food recovery” and they provide support to her organization by providing unused food to her for use in her meal preparation! She estimated that they provide over 2,000 meals a month to those in need!
Nichole was very informative about the upgrades that have both been completed and are planned at the facility. Some of the services provided include a Before & after school programs for both UE & ME School Districts, Evening meals (packaging leftovers @ the end of the week) and teaming up w/ Toys for Tots this year as well.
50/50 - Someone won some money… I didn't note who or how much! LOL
Fines - Same story here - no notes taken! I'm thinking I need an assistant for note taking at the meetings.
