Fines - A total of $49 was raised this week! Ike shared some details about his trip to Egypt! Art simply said “Go Pack Go”:! Richard acknowledged Ike's share. Carol shared that she was just back from an exciting European cruise and seeing the sites! Mitch shared being “happy” with the Scouts for their Veteran's Day activities. Jim Ward happy to be PRESENT! Vince said “Go Bills”! Nate shaed his gratitude for all the recent outside activities that the club members have attended. Steve Miller is happy at all the GOOD that Wade “Mitch” is doing w/ the Scouts!
SPEAKER: George Dermody - Children's Home of Wyoming Converence
George shared that his daughter,Kaitlyn, was a recipient of a Rotary Global Grant Scholarship and was able to go to Oxford in working toward her degree in Early Childhood Development. She is now a PhD!
George shared that he wanted us all to think about what we DO in our service to Rotary and others to “Carry it Forward” in our community! We do work that matters!
The Home was started 115 yrs ago by 4 Methodist women - a result of bringing in women & children that were unhoused. The organization's mission / work has changed over time. Some of the services today include: Approx 500 served with in-home counseling in their covered area; They provide after school programs that keep kids fed & happy; There are appox 150 children in foster care currently and they have helped 250+ children find their FOREVER HOMES!
Notables: There will be 3 children graduating HS in December & 6 in June. This is impressive as they weren't exepcting to graduate at all due to circumstances in their lives.
George shared his APPRECIATION for contributions, prayers & opportunites to engage & connect for the Children's Home! He said that sharing stories we learn about the kids in doing the best they can do is what WE can do to spread the word of their work / mission.
Danielle asked for help with shopping for items for Willow Point Christmas event. Candy & Glen expressed interest and have scheduled their “Elves” work! Please plan to come early on Dec 1st to help with the wrapping of the gifts!
Mitch shared that the Boy Scouts will be starting their Christmas Tree Sales in a few weeks by the Library!
Vestal Rotary Foundation will be working together, led by Carol, to distribute the items for our annual Food Distribution. Don't forget to MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTION - see separate email from Carol to sign up and contribute.
