Fines - Total raised in fines this week was $20! Notables… Art for winning the 50/50, Aaron in recognition of Steve for heading up the river clean up held recently. He was also HAPPY about the Bengals win over rival Steelers recently. Ted shared his happiness from going to The Emerald Isle (Ireland) - Guinness Storehouse among others - Including attending a Rotary meeting held in Dublin! He even brought back a flag to commemorate his visit.
We heard from Allison Jackson who attended RYLA this year. She used expressions like AMAZING and ONCE IN A LIFETIME EXPERIENCE when sharing her experience. She said she made many new friends from all over the District and felt included by her peers at the event. She shared that there was a fire drill at the event in the middle of the night in a pouring rainstorm, however, she took a selfie and it turned out to be THE BEST one from the weekend! She currently attends BOCES for Criminal Justice and is planning on attending SUNY Broome in the Fall 2026. Alli is involved at Vestal in Drama Club, Mock Trial and helps her father with coaching community sports. All around GREAT choice by our selection committee!
AND… yours truly (Danielle) was the scheduled speaker for the week. I spoke about the importance of contributing to Rotary International's Foundation and that November is Foundation Month.I’m looking forward to getting your email confirmations from RI forwarded to me so I can get your matching contribution from Vestal Rotary!I have a BIG budget, so think BIG!I’ll be sending out my annual request email through Club Runner in the beginning of November 😊
Member tidbits:
We received a report from Lori Welch about the remaining costumes at United Way. After we completed our partnership this year, a local church learned of the costume give away and shared that there is a population of unhoused youth in our area that could use the costumes. She happily reported that an additional 90+ costumes were distributed because of the outreach!!!
The riverbank cleanup happened this past weekend. It was a beautiful day for the efforts! Steve Miller coordinated efforts and both Rotarians & family/friends as well as a group from the Boy Scouts made light of the work at hand. Thank you to all who participated!
