The club received a thank you note from Dr. Ed for the flowers. He is doing better and is able to go out with Monica. The Hobart Club sent thanks for our donation to their International Project. Jan Forsburg, the Vestal school nurse, thanked us for her retirement gift. We honored her for all the work she has done over the years with our Coats for Kids project.
The club members wrote 50 notes of cheer for the residents of Willow Point, which will be delivered by Thanksgiving.
The club is launching a new grant program for community service organizations. Vestal Rotarians will be able to nominate non- profit groups who serve Vestal residents. An email outlining the details of the program and the nomination form was sent earlier this month. Grants of $1,500 will be voted on by the Community Service Committee.
St. Pats Raffle-
The raffle is scheduled for March 19th, and George will be distributing tickets via mail before the holidays so that members can begin selling. Members will receive the number that they sold last year or a minimum of 5 tickets.
Annual Food drive-
Watch your email for team assignments for the food drive. beginning after Thanksgiving. This year, as last, we will be collecting monetary donations rather than cans. We also need rotarians to distribute the gift cards to needy families.
Coats for Kids-
We will be able to do our Coats for Kids again this year the week after Christmas. We will take 25 elementary kids form Vestal schools shopping at Kohl's with lunch to follow at Outback Steakhouse. Rob will schedule a date mid-week. This is a very rewarding project, so try to attend.
New member inducted-
It's been a while since we added a new member ( pre-pandemic) but Ethan inducted our 34th and youngest member Jon Holmburg. Jon is 21 yrs old and surplanted the previous youngest member ever inducted ( Neil Guiles-23 yrs old). Jon owns Vibes Rolled Ice Cream in Binghamton. It is a treat filled with various toppings and originated in Thailand. Welcome Jon!
Finemaster-
It was a special treat to have an in-person finemaster again and Neil in his humorous style collected much money for the coffers and a good time was had by all.
