50/50 - And the winner was… not heard by me (LOL) There was no jumping up and down after the drawing so it must not have been MILLIONS!
Fines - This week's fines were mostly self-imposed or HAPPY! James was happy about the Bills 2 WINS (Thurs & Sun)!!! Art was happy about the Packers winning. Richard and Ted were happy to report on their return from a recent trip abroad together - Ted showed his excitement by wearing his Stonehenge shirt! Danielle was happy for a few reasons - recent trip to Italy and 2 SERVICE wins for the club - helping w/ the Binghamton Fire Department's 911 Stair Climb on Sept 13th and this year's 1st Willow Point Nursing home pizza party (once the pizza arrived)! Nate was happy to report seeing many Rotarians over the past few weeks “out in the wild” - German Club event, Stair Climb and a few others - celebrating FELLOWSHIP!
NEWS of the week - Sadie Purdy from United Way was INDUCTED to the club! Welcome Sadie!!
Speaker: Michelle Brown, Exec Director from Life Choices Center in Binghamton. She shared what their mission is for the organization… Helping people before, during and after an unplanned pregnancy! Michelle THANKED Vestal Rotary as her organization was a recent recipient of a Grant from Vestal Rotary for the good they do in our community. The funds were used to replace a dated computer for the organization! She shared some statistics about single parent homes both in the nation as well as NYS - Binghamton Area being high on those lists! There is a men's program that helps them to learn HOW to support the mothers of their child(ren) as they may not have had strong role models to team them that in their own families. Life Choices is now a participant in a NYS program (1115 Waiver) that focuses on 3 pillars - Nutrition, Housing & Transportation for those in need. A little-known fact is that they can provide vouchers for specific food @ participating retailers to improve nutritional value of food items. This does NOT affect their SNAP benefits - it is in addition to it!

Oct 24 - Greene Rotary will be hosting their Annual Oktoberfest from 5-9 PM at Tavern 1244 (old Barron's Inn) in Greene! Tickets are $125 and admit 2 for the festivities.
