June is Rotary Fellowship month. Rotary Fellowships are groups that share a common passion. Being part of a fellowship is a fun way to make friends around the community, the country and the world to explore a hobby or profession to enhance your Rotary experience. We should all consider joining one.
As we enter June, I would like to recap my tenure as president of this great club. We came out of the pandemic and returned to monthly meetings at Celebrations on the Ave filled with comradery and fellowship. We celebrated our 100th year of "Service Above Self " as a club with events all throughout the year ending with a fabulous 100th anniversary party. We once again took on volunteering for Binghamton University not only for basketball, but baseball too. There were many service projects from the band organ, food baskets, planting trees to cleaning up Village parking lots. All of these great projects and fundraising efforts could not have been accomplished without each and every one of our members.
It has not only been a pleasure, but an honor serving this club as president. At the end of June, we will be passing the gavel to Mario Salati. I look forward to joining the Foundation Board and continuing the mission of Service Above Self.
Darlene and I attended the district conference near Rochester, NY. The conference was centered on the environment and environmental issues. It was very informative.
We completed the BU Baseball season participating in 10 games. This is a great fundraising avenue for our foundation. I wanted to thank everyone who volunteered their time.
Endicott Rotary planted three historic trees at two Union Endicott Elementary schools.
Bill Campbell joined by fellow Rotarians Nicole Wolfe, Karl Bub, Nikki Post, Lou Karedes, Heather Uhlman and Darlene Leonard planted two trees at TJ Watson Elementary and one tree at George F Johnson Elementary.
The historic trees were acquired by American Heritage Trees. The children from each school assisted with planting each of the trees. The trees a George Washington Sycamore, a Franklin D Roosevelt Black Oak and a Moon Seedling Sycamore will serve the schools as a positive environmental impact and will be used in the elementary educational experience.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered for the BU Baseball concessions this season. BU is a wonderful opportunity for our club, and we could not do it without all of our volunteers.
The Dick's Sporting Goods Open will be played at Endicott's En-Joie Golf Course from August 15-21, 2022. Endicott Rotary will once again volunteer in the main concession tent under the direction of Tom Latini. The response from our club has truly been overwhelming. In record time every time slot has been filled, a true testament to our club's dedication and comradery. ~ Thank you! ~
There are opportunities to volunteer in other areas of the open, Dave Baker is looking for Marshalls, if you would like to volunteer as a Marshall, please contact Dave. ~ Service Above Self ~
I want to thank the Endicott Rotary for collecting 22 flags for my Eagle Scout project. I would like to invite all of the members of The Endicott Rotary Club to attend the flag retirement ceremony.
I will be conducting a retirement ceremony at Hickories Park, pavilion #4, in Owego which will take place Friday, June 17th at 5:00 PM. I will also be offering 25-50 replacement flags to veterans at the ceremony.
Two Endicott Rotarians earn their second Paul Harris Fellow awards in May.
Carl Speicher and Stephan Wasylko both earned their second Paul Harris Fellow awards. The Paul Harris Fellow program recognizes individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
The honor was established in 1957 to show appreciation for contributions that support our Annual Fund, PolioPlus, or an approved Foundation grant.
A Message from Mary Mullock, UE Principal LWW/Tiger Ventures
Dear Rotary Club members,
Last spring you came to our campus to plant an historic tree. I am pleased to let you know that it survived the winter. See above. I saw that you planted two more this spring at other UE schools. Thank you for your continued support of our schools and community.
Mary Mullock
