The Community Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday April 8.  Cortland Rotary will be parking cars at 10:00 and will be done by 11:00.   If you are planning on attending the District Conference that day, that should still allow you time to do both.  We will need about 5 Rotarians to help with the parking - then off you go.  
The Robotics Team that Cortland Rotary sponsors left Champion last night for Huntsville, Alabama to attend the Rocket City Regional competition this week.  Rotarian Barb Hummel is one of the advisor for this "techie" group.  GOOD LUCK TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Rotary Club of Cortland will be hosting the 18th annual Howl at the Moon 5K Night Race, returning to its original Night Flight Race format on Saturday, June 6, 2015.  The event will take place at Lakeview High School, 300 Hillman Drive, Cortland, Ohio in conjunction with the Rotary Club, the school, and our sponsors. The first race will be a Kids' 200 Yard Dash which will start at 8:00 PM.  Followed by a 1 Mile Community Fun Walk/Run which will start at 8:15 PM. Finanlly, a 5K Track and Road Race will start at 9 PM with an awards ceremony, door prizes, food, and entertainment following.

Proceeds from this annual event will benefit the various community projects for which the Rotary Club of Cortland provides much needed funding.  Examples of Cortland Rotary past contributions are: College scholarships to Lakeview High School Seniors, funds for Lakeview Booster Clubs, Cortland Area Cares (CAC); Rotary Park; Imagination Station; Trumbull County Orthopedic Equipment Fund; Camelot Riding Center; Warren Family Mission and many more community projects.

On Tuesday, March 21, regular club meetings will resume at 7:30 am each Tuesday at Ohio Living Lake Vista in the Heron Dining Room(2 floor, main building.)

Cortland Rotary hosted the annual Santa Visit.  Cookies, hot chocolate, and kids crafts were available for the enjoyment of the children.  It truly was a very fun day.  
 
At our Tuesday meeting, Mrs. Denman from Cortland Elementary spoke us how our students are being taught 21 Century learning skills by participating in weekly projects that induce creative thinking skills.  She challenged us to see which team could create the tallest tower using tape, string, spaghetti noodles, and a marshmello for the top.  
There will not be a 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting on Tuesday November 15, 2016.  Instead club members and friends will meet at 6 p.m.. at Barrel 33 in Howland Ohio for a "Fireside Chat" and a 100 year Rotary Foundation Anniversary Celebration. 
  
We will be joining the Lakeview Marching Band as they lead the Cortland Halloween Parade to Lakeview High School.  Cortland Rotary will be providing donuts and cider to share with the all the little ghosts and ghouls.  Your help will be appreciated as we meet at 5:00 on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Lakeview High School.  
 
 
Rotary members attended the Friday Night Lakeview Football Game to cheer on the Bulldogs to a win over Labrae. A check was also presented to the Lakeview Stars cheer squad that is made up of the varsity cheerleaders and students with varying disabilities.
Lakeview seniors were honored this morning at the Cortland Rotary Honor Breakfast at Lake Vista.  Pictured are are the students with Rotary member Beverly Hoagland, Chairperson.  CONGRATULATIONS SENIORS!!!!!!
The Cortland Rotary Club will have their regular meeting, Tuesday, March 1, at Beef O'Brady's in Cortland.  Usual time, 7:30 - 8:30.   See you there!!!!!! : )
 

Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be arriving on a Cortland fire truck on Saturday, December 12 at the Cortland Opera House.  Area children, with their parents, are invited to join the party from noon until 2:00 p.m. to visit with Santa, make holiday decorations, and enjoy cookies and juice.  All are welcome!   ho ho ho

 
Kevin Piros, Cortland City Councilman, recently attended a Cortland Rotary meeting to discuss the Splash Pad project he is spearheading for our community.  Our Past President, Don Petrosky, presented him with a check for $1,500.00

The 2015 Cortland Rotary Golf Classic is Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Tamer Win Golf Course.  The cost is $80 person and includes 18 holes, carts, mulligans, skins game, lunch, refreshments and dinner.

The Annual Howl At The Moon 1 Mile Fun Run and 5K will be Saturday, June 6 at the track at Lakeview High School in Cortland , Ohio.  The 1 Mile Fun Run starts at 8:15 pm and the 5K at 8:45 pm.  

During the regular Tuesday morning meeting, Dec. 30, (7:30 a.m. at Lake Vista in Cortland, OH), the 2015 NEW YEAR will be ringing in with a New Year's Celebration.  A great breakfast with mimosas, party hats, noise makers and all will be available as we celebrate the past and welcome the future.  Join us for the fun and celebration.  laugh

Santa and Mrs. Clause will arrive by a Cortland City Fire Truck on Saturday, December 13th to the Cortland Opera House.  They will be there from 12:00 noon to 2:00 in the afternoon.  There will be hot chocolate and cookies, and the kids will be able to make a craft, and receive a coloring book and candy canes.  Come join us as we ring in the season and create wonderful memories.  RI Logo1Christmas

 

US FlagThe Cortland Rotary Club Invites You To Join Your Friends and Neighbors in Cortland & Bazetta, in displaying the American Flag. 

When you lease a flag from the Cortland Rotary Club, you will get to display an American Flag on six major holidays:

 

  • Memorial Day
  • Flag Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Patriot Day (9/11)
  • Veterans Day


...and we'll do all the work for you! When you lease a flag, we will insert a PVC plastic sleeve, along with a cap, in the ground in your front yard. No brackets or fixtures are attached to your home.
 
On each of the six holidays listed, a 3' x 5' American Flag mounted on a 10-foot metal pole is placed in the sleeve. We purchase the flags, display, store and maintain them. It is all done for you!

The flags remain the property of the Cortland Rotary Club.

EREY-EN-c    Cortland Rotary Participated in Make A Difference Day by again collecting clothes for the Warren Family Mission
Cortland Rotary will be holding their Annual Clothing and Canned Food Drive on Make A Difference Day.  Bring your clean clothes and canned goods on October, 27, 2012 to the Lakeview High School front bus garage. (300 Hillman Drive, Cortland, OH   44410).  A raffle ticket will be given for each bag of clothing donated.  Join us for coffee and donuts, 9:00 - 1:00.  The items collected will be donated to the Warren Family Mission.
