The Rotary Club of Cortland will be hosting the 17th annual Howl at the Moon 5K Night Race, returning to its original Night Flight Race format on Saturday, June 3, 2017. The event will take place at Lakeview High School, 300 Hillman Drive, Cortland, Ohio in conjunction with the Rotary Club, the school, and our sponsors. The 5K will start at 9 PM with an awards ceremony, door prizes, food, and entertainment following.
Proceeds from this annual event will benefit the various community projects for which the Rotary Club of Cortland provides much needed funding.  Examples of Cortland Rotary past contributions are: College scholarships to Lakeview High School Seniors, Annual Easter Egg Hunt, Annual Visit from Santa Clause, Boy Scouts (Eagle Project), Trumbull Art Gallery, The Splash Pad at Pearl Par, Cortland Area Cares (CAC); Rotary Park; Rotary Youth Exchange Students; Warren Family Mission, Someplace Safe, LOAF,  and many more community projects.
The Community Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday April 8.  Cortland Rotary will be parking cars at 10:00 and will be done by 11:00.   If you are planning on attending the District Conference that day, that should still allow you time to do both.  We will need about 5 Rotarians to help with the parking - then off you go.
The Robotics Team that Cortland Rotary sponsors left Champion last night for Huntsville, Alabama to attend the Rocket City Regional competition this week.  Rotarian Barb Hummel is one of the advisor for this "techie" group.  GOOD LUCK TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JOIN US ON TUESDAY JANUARY 3 to ring in the new year!   We will be making toasts with mimosas and breakfast.  JOIN US!!!!!  : )

Cortland Rotary hosted the annual Santa Visit.  Cookies, hot chocolate, and kids crafts were available for the enjoyment of the children.  It truly was a very fun day.

At our Tuesday meeting, Mrs. Denman from Cortland Elementary spoke us how our students are being taught 21 Century learning skills by participating in weekly projects that induce creative thinking skills.  She challenged us to see which team could create the tallest tower using tape, string, spaghetti noodles, and a marshmello for the top.

We will be joining the Lakeview Marching Band as they lead the Cortland Halloween Parade to Lakeview High School.  Cortland Rotary will be providing donuts and cider to share with the all the little ghosts and ghouls.  Your help will be appreciated as we meet at 5:00 on Thursday, Oct. 27, at Lakeview High School.

Rotary members attended the Friday Night Lakeview Football Game to cheer on the Bulldogs to a win over Labrae. A check was also presented to the Lakeview Stars cheer squad that is made up of the varsity cheerleaders and students with varying disabilities.
