EA-WR SCHOLARSHIP TABLE
NEWS-NOTES-NONSENSE
On Thursday Prez Rodney gave us a comprehensive overview of the international project our club may undertake as a partnership with RI and a local club in Eswatini, Africa. Rodney will be traveling to Eswatini in Mid-August (Do you want to go along?) to meet with partner club to discuss our possible involvement and undertake a RI required Community Needs Assessment.Since there is a serious rise in non-communicable diseases in the country our project will probably be related to the area of treatment/prevention. This is the first step in the process.
Birthday wished go out to JeanK on St. Patty's Day!
LoriP announced that we are still looking for a EA-WR student to attend the RYLA conference.
We were joined by three of our EA-WR scholarship students on Thursday, juniors Aiden and Ahrya and senior Paige. JoeS introduced them and their long-time counselor and asked each student about their career plans. Aiden is looking at becoming a firefighter, Ahrya wants to be involved in the cosmetology field and Paige plans on a nursing career. We wish all of these fine students only the best as they chart their future.

LeonardB observed how the overflowing SAA fines basket (filled with dollar bills) reminded him of his church's collection basket.
The SRI (slide right in) crowd was well represented-WendellR, LeonardB, ChrisH, PaulH, PattiA and MikeK.
Opening duties were deftly handled by JoeS, SherryT and MarkV.
JoeS was in the house after spending several weeks bouncing between Alabama, Tennessee and Florida.
The Next time you see SandyS ask her how she warms her butter pats. Or maybe not?
MikeK was the last of 19 members to arrive (our best attendance since last November) @ 12:15. He was proceeded by GeorgeM, Prez Rodney and PattiA.
We dined on chicken fried steak, whipped taters w/ gravy, rolls, salad and cuppies.
JoeS observed how talking to our scholarship students made him feel younger.
SandyS and LeonardB know all about the WR township rodent control reward program from the 80's.
SAA Patti posed some trivia Q's and we nailed all of them. Not wearing a name badge? Pay a $.
The $370 jackpot was left on the table by KyndraG and JohnP. John hoped for better luck with the scratch-off.

Known in Hawaiian as Leahi or “brow of the tuna,” Diamond Head is one of Oahu’s most recognizable landmarks, towering behind Waikiki Beach. The volcanic crater reaches 760 feet high and stretches 3,520 feet across. Diamond Head was named by British sailors who believed they had found diamonds in the crater, but the minerals they came across turned out to be calcite crystals. The crater itself was formed over 100,000 years ago. At one point, it served as a strategic military lookout, but it is now a state monument and national natural landmark that serves as a popular hiking spot for visitors to Honolulu.

The EA club heard a presentation about the 'Madison County Hilton', AKA, the county jail.
MikeK was looking for volunteers to help with the upcoming Adopt A Highway day.
Heavily tanned MarkS returned from FL with two make-ups in hand.
Current members in a leadership position-LoriP, AlanaY, CoryG, JeanK, GeorgeM and GeorgeT.
JohnP Reminded everyone about the upcoming Trivia Night on the 28th.
The EA club welcomed new members SherryT and SandyS.
ScottL announced that scholarship applications were now available.
BillP thanked everyone for their assistance with the funeral arrangements for Issac Thaxton.
LeonardB and Frank Akers announced that they were offering a $200 matching grant for the Polio Plus program.
LoriP reminded everyone about the return of Baseball Mania.
Both clubs made donations to the Back2School Bash event.
AlanaY and JeanK made a presentation about the recent PETS (Presidents-Elect Training Seminar) event.
TommieM made-up at the EA club meeting.
CoryG was the baseball trivia ace.
JoeS handled the SAA duties.
DonnaK would assume the WR club secretary duties on July 1st.
The EA club made a feeble attempt at singing the birthday song in honor of VirgilM's natal day.

HOW ROTARACT TRANSFORMED ME

My journey in Rotaract has been transformative, marked by personal growth and the acquisition of valuable skills. Prior to joining Rotaract, I struggled with speaking in public. Rotaract gave me a supportive environment where I could gradually overcome my fear of public speaking. Through opportunities to address meetings and participate in community events, I improved my communication skills and gained confidence in expressing my ideas effectively.
Rotaract has also equipped me with a diverse set of practical skills that have proven beneficial in both my personal and professional lives. From project management and event coordination to technical engagements, my involvement in Rotaract exposed me to hands-on experiences that enhanced my problem-solving abilities and taught me to be adaptable.
By embracing the challenges and opportunities in Rotaract, I have grown as a leader and as an individual. I am grateful for both the experiences and the platform it has provided me.
I would encourage anyone seeking personal growth, leadership development, and the opportunity to make a positive impact in their community to consider joining Rotaract. It’s a welcoming community where you can learn new skills, meet inspiring individuals, and contribute meaningfully to causes you care about.
World Rotaract Week, 11-17 March, commemorates the founding of the first Rotaract club in 1968 and celebrates Rotaract’s success around the world.
