Rosetta "Rosie" Brown joined us on Thursday to tell us about the Socks for Tots program she began five years ago. JoeS pointed out in his introduction that Rosie is deeply involved with the Alton community. In her words "It's all about the kids." In the first year of the program she collected 55 pairs of socks. "Sock it to me" LoriP collected 485 pairs of socks from our members and presented them to Rosie after her presentation. Well done to all!.
Happy St. Patty's Day next Thursday and birthday wishes to JeanK and LauraW.
Baseball Mania tickets are now being distributed by LoriP. Get your pack of 10 today.
We will be attending the season opening game of the Alton River Dragons baseball team on June 1st First pitch is @ 6:35. Let LoriP know ASAP if you want to be there. She plans to get a group rate on the tickets, around $10 per. Fireworks to follow the final pitch. It should be a fun group outing. There are currently 18 members and guest slated to attend.
Junior movie critics BradL and WendellR both like the current version of the Batman flick.
It was nice to have snowbird MarkA on hand while taking a brief break (to enjoy some snow?) from his winter residence in Tampa.
Our 5k Color Run is slated for Saturday June 4th @ Belk-8AM. The sign-up link is available on our Facebook and web pages. Prez Lindsey is also looking for race sponsors for $100. Let her know if you are in. The race will be in person and on a new circuit that JasonW designed so runners/walkers won't get lost.
This was a first. DarrenC was the first member to arrive, and the first to depart, before the food line opened.
Opening duties were provided by Prez Lindsey, JoeS and BillP, who offered prayers for our "Hot mess of a President".
If you plan to attend our district Rotary Day at the Ballpark on June 26th give your form to LoriP before April 6th and she will submit the forms together so all our seats are adjacent. The early-bird price is $45 per. It's @ Busch, Cards vs Cubs.
Are you interested in an Amare benefit trivia night on April 22nd? It takes place at the Wood River Roundhouse, 1st Q @ 6:30. Let LoriP know. The club plans to sponsor at least one table.

20 members who managed to find our relocated meeting room dined on two soups, roasted red pepper gouda and french onion, garlic bread, crackers, two types of salads and three different desserts.
SAA Sherry posed rather difficult trivia Q's about sharks and space to the first three tables then tossed a beach ball sized lob of a question to AllenH's table about the Benld Coliseum. Lots of $$ were collected.
Last to arrive includedLeonardB, LindseyH and RhondaB.
PaulG and JeanK had their 50-50 tickets drawn by surrogates with predictable results. WendellR and BillP continued the futility by missing the joker. JimH took home the scratch-off.

Alaska’s Denali peak may reign supreme as the highest point in the United States at 20,310 feet, but Florida’s Britton Hill takes the title for the lowest high point of any state. At just 345 feet above sea level, Britton Hill doesn’t even reach the height of some skyscrapers in other states. In fact, New York’s Empire State Building is three times as high. Britton Hill is 103 feet lower than Ebright Azimuth in Delaware, the state with the country’s next lowest high point.

The WR club made a donation for the renovations of the East End Park.

RHS Junior Rotarians Melissa Solt and Breanna Reynolds attend the WR meeting.
RhondaB and ErinP were thanked for their hard work with the recent EA sponsored Trivia Night.
ScottL levied several fines at the WR meeting.
