It's time for our end of year break. Look for your next Eastender News to arrive on January 6th. Have a wonderful holiday season while you enjoy quality time with your family and friends. On Thursday the EA-WR High School E-Sports team paid us a visit to talk about, wait for it, E-Sports. Instructors Jerry and Drew were joined by a group of five student gamers. The program began in 2018 and has grown to include about 50 students who compete with other schools/groups in nine different games. They operate out of two different rooms at the high school. There are several organizers, including the staid IHSA, who sponsor competitions. Sometimes the team travels to other sites to compete. We got to hear from a great bunch of kids and award winning gamers.
Reminder-all of the meeting/events photos are posted on our web site photo albums. The links can be found on our main page. (There's one for this year's bell ringing as well as the 23-24 Rotary year) and some photos will also appear on our members only Facebook page.
Our Christmas party is Thursday evening. The fun starts at 6:30. It's being held at Prez Rodney's church in Roxana. Chef Bob is catering. There is NO NOON MEETING on Thursday.
Congrats to BillP on his 10 years of Rotary service.
RodC was spied sporting a nice Christmas sweater.
SherryT expressed some dismay at the fact that SandyS took a cruise with her hubby rather than her.
Early arrivals included AllenH, Prez Rodney and JohnP.
The slide right in crew includedno one, wow!
Opening duties were handled by LeonardB, AllenH and MarkA.
A big thank you to the 20 (+/-) members, family, friends, scholarship students, fry cook and drop-in Santa who assisted with the bells. It was a beautiful day for Doing The Most Good. Thanks to MarkV for coordinating.
It seems as though JohnP equates being a CPA with certain Grinch qualities. GeorgeM took some umbrage.
SAA sub SherryT fined everyone who had not accepted/decline the Christmas party invite, and then there was BradL groveling to avoid paying the fine.
16 members were in the house to dine on Grinch approved roast beast, whipped taters w/ gravy, hail Caesar salad, rolls and cake.
Last in was BradL @ 12:07. Other post-nooners included LeonardB, TylerL and WendellR.
50-50 opportunities were afforded and squandered by WendellR and BradP. SherryT scratched, but found no itch.

The classic song “You Are My Sunshine” was penned by former Louisiana governor by Jimmie H. Davis and Charles Mitchell in 1940, so it’s only fitting that the state later chose to honor it as its official song in 1977. It isn’t the only song that is officially recognized by the state, however: In June 2021, "Southern Nights" was elected Louisiana's official cultural song.

WR bell ringing coordinator Max Emery thanked TommieM and GeorgeT for their technical assistance and JohnP for blowin' his own horn.
Current members serving as club officers included-GeorgeM, LoriP, ScottL, ChrisH, GeorgeT and CoryG.
Birthday wished were offered to DaveA.
Since the Keasler Rec Center was locked, the EA club made a last minute pivot to the Roxana Nazarene Church (thank you Larry Lacher) and heard a presentation about New Opportunities Inc.
LeonardB would be in charge of organizing the tri-club meeting.
EA-WR Junior Rotarians Lacey Baker and Emily Pugh joined the WR members for lunch.
JohnP announced that the first meeting of the EA-WR Interact club meeting would take place in Early January.
SAA RickH announced that all of the days meeting fines would be donated to the EA Christmas family fund.
ScottL fined himself for missing his bell ringing assignment.
A call for new officers went out to all EA members, term starting in July 2010.
GeorgeT paid a Happy Fine.
LeonardB won a $, but failed to find the Queen of Hearts.
