Wendell is happy to report that his Rosewood Heights "Hotel Columbia" is closed for the holidays.

Chris 2 served as the SAA and recruited Nathan as the bag guy. Trivia topics included heartbeats, Jupiter, whipped cream and Monopoly.
Allen remembers when the Roxana football team had ugly uniforms and leather helmets. His days of glory for EA-WR were before Brad 2 was born. Yikes!
The serving line featured noodleless lasagna, mixed veggies, rolls, salad and chocolate cake. Look for Thanksgiving leftovers on the 30th.
The Turkey Fund collected a total of $355. Outstanding! Bill will present a check to the fine folks at Operation Blessing. Rest assured that your generosity will be rewarded by providing a better holiday season for those in need.
Our Christmas gathering will be the evening of December 14th. We will gather at the Bluff City Grill on Broadway at 6PM. You received an event email this past week with all the details. You may sign-up on line or at the meeting. Dinner will be served buffet style. For quick access, park on the top level of the garage and walk right into the banquet facility.
Our Winter Wonderland date has been set for Sunday December 10th, 5-9PM. Online signup will be available soon.
Save your ticket! Bill did not have access to the 50-50 cards so everything will be rolled to the 30th.

THE POWEWR OF VOLUN-TELLING
By Sarah Tuberty, president of the Rotaract Club of Sargent College Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA
I awoke early on a Saturday morning to the sound of my mother’s voice. “Good morning Sarah, I signed us up for a Rotary service project. You should put on old clothes. We are painting a map on the Alamo Elementary School playground. Quick, we need to leave in 15 minutes”
A form of this conversation occurred more times than I can remember when I was growing up. My mother, Katheryn Tuberty, has been a member of the Vacaville Rotary Club in California, USA, since 1998. Someone recommended to her that as the new administrator of the local assisted living center, it would be a great way to get to know the community. She was hooked from the first meeting. She loved the club, the people, and the community. She is an engaged person of action, a prominent figure in town, and a “mover and shaker.” She is also the queen of “volun-telling.”
“Volun-telling” is when you are volunteered for a role before you even ask. I learned all about taking part in service projects when I was young because I was frequently volun-told. Annoying as it was to be woken up on a Saturday morning, I always went. I was able to work next to my mom and develop friendships with other Rotarian families. I believed in the Rotary mission. I felt connected, welcomed, and supported by my Rotary club. At the age of eight, I knew I was going to be a future Rotarian. To continue reading, link herehttp://bit.ly/2zALzfc

A lawyer who had a wife and 12 children needed to move because his rental agreement was terminated by the owner, who wanted to reoccupy the home. But he was having a lot of difficulty finding a new house.
When he said he had 12 children, no-one would rent a home to him because they felt that the children would destroy the place. He couldn't say he had no children, because he couldn't lie. (As we all know, lawyers cannot and do not lie). So he sent his wife for a walk to the cemetery with 11 of their kids. He took the remaining one with him to see rental homes with the real estate agent. He loved one of the homes, and the price was right.
The agent asked: "How many children do you have? He answered: "Twelve." The agent asked, "Where are the others?" The lawyer, with his best courtroom sad look, answered, "They're in the cemetery with their mother."
