SALLY CENTERS OUR CREW
This past Wednesday marked the passing of our First Lady, Sally Speciale. Even though she was never an "official" club member during her 45 years of service, no one embodied the 4-Way Test more than this fine lady. If you needed assistance, she was there to provide high quality help, without seeking any personal recognition. Our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Mark and their family. She will be greatly missed.
ChrisL introduced Joel Halvorsen and Greg Klote, principles of the Halvorsen & Klote Law Firm, located at Olive and 270 in St. Louis County. In additional to personal injury they represent clients regarding the Telephone Protection Act, Fair Credit Collection Act. They serve clients from both Missouri and Illinois The firm performs pro-bono work for civil cases within the Southern Illinois Federal District Court. Greg did a quick review of auto insurance and suggested that you have sufficient coverage for under insured, uninsured and medical care. All three are relatively inexpensive and can be quite useful.

Friends
The state’s name (and motto) has its roots in friendship. The word “Texas” is derived from the Native American Caddo language word “teyshas,” meaning "friends/allies." When Spanish explorers landed in what is now Texas in the 16th century, they believed “teyshas” was the name of a tribe. They began labeling the area north of the Rio Grande “Teyas” or “Tejas,” which came to be known as Texas.

ROTARY PEACE FELLOWS INSPIRE
AT SPECIAL CONCERT
By Carol Hall, Rotary Foundation Chair for the Rotary Club of Abingdon Vesper, Oxfordshire, England
I recently had the privilege of hosting two Rotary Peace Fellows from Bradford University – David from The Gambia and Ghenwa from Syria. Ghenwa comes from southern Syria which has not had the destruction, bombing, and killing that has taken place in northern Syria. However, she cannot live in Syria for fear of reprisal or arrest because of her association with Rotary.
The government in Syria is suspicious of any nongovernmental organization and organizations such as Rotary. Because of that and out of concern for her family who still live there, she and her husband must live outside Syria. These Peace Fellows are exceptional young people. I loved hosting them and felt so privileged to be in their company and to share their experiences.
The highlight of the weekend was the concert performed by The World Orchestra for Peace on 21 September, comprised of musicians from around the world who are the “crème de la crème” in their field. Many of the violinists are the leaders in very prestigious world orchestras. Between pieces of music, the Peace Fellows told their personal stories and why they wanted to be a Peace Fellow. to continue reading, link herehttps://bit.ly/2Od9nf3
