VILLAGE PEOPLE ISSUE
October 22, 2016
NEWS, NOTES & NONSENSE
THE JOKER DRAWS A...7
Mark 1 , Wendell, Bill and Brad 2 were among the early arrivals. Rounding out the 20 members in the house were Paul, Brad 1 and Dave.
Server Karen was MIA, she was missed. sliced turkey in gravy was accompanied by ham and cheese sandwiches, g-beans, corn, salad and a couple of cake choices.
The call was not "Advantage, Sherry". We'll leave it at that.
Chris 1 predicts a bad winter. A friend of mine from Arkansas sez the same. It must be true!
Mark 1 returned from his CSI mission. Gone Missing was Allen and Lori (for the second week in a row.) One wag wanted to know who was running the village? Joe and Randy weren't in attendance so, maybe, they were covering for her? (With an assist from Darren?)
Sherry and her entourage went to visit the Noah's Ark replica south of the Queen City. Mark 1 had fond memories visiting the Virden clock factory in Cincinnati.
Sandy was planning on saying something profound, and then...
Did you know that Chris 1 and Sandy are neighbors, neither did Sandy.
Brad 2 encourages everyone to bring a Vet to Rotary lunch during November, especially on the 10th.
Bill has selected the Friday December 9th date for us to work at the Winter Wonderland event. We need at least 12 folks. It will last about 3 hours and we will make something north of $300 for an evenings work. Look for a sign-up sheet soon.
Did you know that Lindsey is from Bunker Hill and is an SIUE graduate? Now you do.
Opening duties were provided by Roger, Rhonda and Bill
Speaking of Bill, He is recovering from a nasty case of the flu, but did lose a few pounds. He recommends Methodist pie to make you feel better.
We will be collecting for the BackStoppers organization through the 27th. Thanks to those who have donated.
Sandy sez Joe raises your taxes, not her.
The basketball tournament date has been set for February 11th.
Sherry loves the Trivia Crack game.
SAA Bill solicited Bag Lad Paul to collect the $$$. The trivia answers included Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fosbury Flop, Pete Rose and the Sox/Yankees.
The Granite City Rotary Club is sponsoring an event to help raise money to assist the laid off U.S. Steel plant employees. The event will take place on November 3rd. here is a facebook link link with additional information http://bit.ly/2eoF95U
The Turkey Fund is now at $107.
Chris 2 and Dave drew the cards, Cory the scratch-off. The $127 jackpot rolled.
That's all from here. Have a fine and dry weekend.
