DG KAPATAMOYO PRESENTS LORI WITH HER PHF+5 PIN
NEWS-NOTES-NONSENSE
On Thursday we welcomed District Governor Musondo Kapatamoyo who shared his vision for District 6460. Musondo is a member of the Edwardsville club (it's always nice to have a DG from our part of the district) and the 115th DG of our district. He is a professor in the Mass Comunications department at SIUE. His involvement with Rotary started when he inquired about a Rotary pin a member of the E'ville club was wearing at a non-Rotary meeting that both were attending.
DG Kapatamoyo presented LoriP with her Paul Harris+5 pin recognizing her financial contributions to Rotary International.

There were19 members plus Lilly dining on roast beast, quartered red taters, Rotary g-beans, rolls, salad and cookies.
In honor of having our DG in the house SAA RickH gave everyone a fine-free day. Several folks did have Happy non-Fines and we celebrated CoryG's birthday.
Neither AllenH and KarenJ could locate the joker. GeorgeM won the scratch-off.

Biscayne Bay is an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean off the southeastern coast of Florida. The city of Miami lies along its northern border, and the bay reaches some of the Florida Keys in the south. Biscayne Bay’s shallow waters are home to a wide variety of birds, as well as sea turtles and manatees. Biscayne National Park encompasses a large segment of the bay.

Don’t wait until you are ready to try new things in Rotary

In 2003, I began a Rotary Youth Exchange to Denmark. My family was not a traveling one, and when I was accepted for the exchange, they were a bit apprehensive. I remember my mom crying at the airport before saying, “I really hope someone is there when you get off the plane.” Thinking back on that, I’m amazed my mom sent me, an insular 16-year-old, to another country, having only had email conversations with my hosts. If you think youth exchange students are brave, consider how brave their parents are.
I could tell so many stories of that year. I filled seven journals of amazing experiences while I was in Denmark. I had regularly journaled since eighth grade, but for the year and a half after I returned, I didn’t journal a page. I felt like, by comparison, I didn’t have anything interesting to write anymore. I didn’t just learn about another culture, I adopted customs in my life and came back a completely new person. (Looking back, I realize my journal silence was a sign of reverse culture shock and wish I had kept writing to capture my many intense feelings during that time).
My exchange year was just the beginning of my experience with Rotary. I joined the Peace Corps and helped Rotary clubs connect with Peace Corps in Colombia. In 2017, I turned 30 and joined the Rotary Club of Phoenix, Arizona. I served as president in 2021-22, and as assistant governor in 2022-25. To continue reading,link here
