Our program was presented by the Curtain's Up Theater Company. They are based in Madison County and have been performing since 2003. Artistic Director Carole Hudson introduced the other five "Up" company members in the house and gave us a brief overview of the organization. She was followed by two rousing selections from the School of Rock musical that they will be performing on August 12-14 at the Nazarene Community Theater. We tied our in-person attendance record at Thursday's meeting with 29 members in the house.The early birds wereDarrenC, AllenH and LoriP.Helping to nudge us to 29 were MikeK, SandyS, SherryT and MarkV.
RhondaB is selling Christmas in July tickets for $10. The raffle is sponsored by Freer Auto Body and all proceeds benefit the Community Christmas program. The top three prizes are worth $2,500 each.
SAA LeonardB, with an assist from Lugmeister LindseyH, collected Happy Fines from MarkA (who shared a lovely remembrance of his mother) and PaulG. Leonard began coaching us up for the upcoming District Governor's visit. In fact, he did such a fine job that the Curtain's Up folks want him to join their troupe.(They also tried to recruit MarkA.) Not wearing your name badge? Pay a $.
Lori shared a photo of what our new Soap Box car will look like with the vinyl wrap. The folks at Full Deck are doing a fine job.
BillP told everyone that the A-G club is sponsoring a night at the Alton River Dragons game on Monday. Go to http://altongodfreyrotary.org for all the info.
Prez Robin reminded us about the email from Brian Barnstead regarding the upcoming Cards vs Yankees game on August 6th. Tickets are $45 and are located in Big Mac Land @ Busch. Proceeds benefit our literacy program.
Happy 42nd anniversary to Bill and Brenda. They were a good looking couple replete in their wedding white.
Prez Robin told us that there are currently 50 kids receiving a monthly book via the Imagination Library program. We can accept 100. The program is open to children from birth to age
4 1/2.
With theOlin office building being converted to rubble, JoeS shared a story about how one could determine the level of importance of the office occupants. Look up, the more ornate the ceiling, the more important the employee was.
PaulG won the "Dapper Dan"award.
Opening duties were handled by Prez Robin, ScottL and RodneyD.
The Wood River library is sponsoring What's Up Downtown on July 28th, 6:30-8.

The Sierra Nevada range of the United States extends for about 250 miles along the eastern edge of California, from the Mojave Desert north to the Cascade Range. It is home to a number of giant sequoias, the largest trees in the world. However, it isn't the only Sierra Nevada range — about 5,500 miles east lies Spain's own Sierra Nevada mountains, the highest division of the longer Baetic Cordillera range. Though only running 26 miles from east to west, Spain's Sierras are no slouch. The European chain features the highest point of the Iberian Peninsula, Mulhacén Peak, as well as some of the best ski resorts in Europe. That makes sense, considering that "Sierra Nevada" means "Snowy Range" in Spanish.

WR members were asked to consider a new raffle fundraiser. Each member would be asked to sell at least 10 tickets for $20 each. The top prize would be a trip to Mexico or $1,500 cash.
23 EA members dined at Julia's taco bar.
Thanks went out to WR members JeanK, ScottL and PattiA for their help with the Hartford A of G Back 2 School Bash.
EA members were encouraged to keep selling the Macy's Shop for a Cause coupons.
WR members were reminded that all billing questions should be directed to Treasurer GeorgeM.
RickH was still accepting Program of the Year ballots at the EA meeting.
Happy Fines were collected from WR members LeonardB, DonnaK, PaulG, MikeK and JeanK.
RhondaB was circulating the sign-up sheet for the Soap Box Derby.
JohnP failed to claim the $20 WR 50-50 jackpot. MarkSp had the same outcome with the $50 EA jackpot.
JasonW provided the WR program.
PaulH asked all EA members to consider providing gift baskets for the Quarter Auction event.
