On Thursday two representatives of the Curtains Up Theater Company were on hand to share their enthusiasm for the holiday production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Carol Hotson and Vince Ojeda shared their personal connection with the musical. For Carol, it was her first stage roll and for Vince he and his daughters appeared in the very first Curtains Up show. Vince promised that the show will make you laugh and cry. Four shows will be presented during the December 16th weekend at the Nazarene Community Theater in Roxana. Adult ticket are $12. The Turkey Fund goal was $500 and, by golly, we nailed it, exactly. Well done! Thanks to all who made a contribution. Prez Robin will deliver our donation to Operation Blessing next week, in time for them to purchase Thanksgiving food items.

With the pre-noon arrival of both PaulH and LeonardB, WendellR mused that perhaps these gents had failed to move to standard time.
MarkV reminded everyone that the Salvation Army sign-up sheet was circulating. LoriP had a similar reminder regarding our Christmas Wonderland event.
MikeK has offered to host our Christmas party athis Cracker Factory penthouse on December 15th. Santa's favorite elf, BillP, will coordinate. All manner of Christmas attire will be welcome.
For our return to Julia's, Chef Bob rolled out freshly fried yard bird for our buffet. Sides included whipped taters/gravy, brussel sprouts, rolls, salad and cookies.
Post-nooners included Prez Robin, ChrisH and BradP.
RodneyD subbed for Prez Robin for most of the meeting.
Our meeting census was 19.
SAA LeonardB mused about seeing a generic 4-Way Test on the wall of a Knox College professor while watching a video clip.
SherryT paid a Happy Fine while expressing her thankfulness for her true friends.
Opening duties were handled by RodneyD, ChrisH and MarkA.
50-50 opportunities were afforded to MarkA and LeonardB. Even with a dwindling deck, both failed to locate the elusive joker. RickH won the scratch-off.

Every time you go to the beach in California, you’re looking out at a national monument. The entire 1,100-mile long California coast, from Mexico to Oregon, is a protected ecosystem thanks to a 2000 proclamation by President Bill Clinton. The California Coastal National Monument extends 12 nautical miles from the shore to the continental shelf — islands, cliffs, rocks, reefs, shore line, and anything above the high-tide line in this area are all part of the monument.

Charlie Kunz shared his reflections on his WWII service with fellow EA members. (Still a teenager, he was one of the first US soldiers to enter the Dachau Concentration Camp, arriving the day after the camp was liberated.)
The WR club welcomed its newest member DonnaK.
The finance and marketing committees for the EA Home and Garden Show were announced.
WR club officers included ScottL, JimH, GeorgeM and GeorgeT.
EA officers included ChrisH, LoriP and CoryG.
WR Salvation Army bell ringing would take place on December 4th. MarkV reminded the EA club that their bell ringing was scheduled for December 11th.
Thoughts and prayers were requested for WR member MikeK during his deployment in Afghanistan.
EA member PatB presented a make-up from the Florissant club.
DaveA was looking for WR members assistance with dictionary distribution to the local elementary schools.
EA club members would be distributing Christmas flowers on December 19th.
JohnP told fellow WR members that there were 15 Interact club members at EA-WR HS. RhondaB and LoriP were working on establishing an Interact club at RHS.
EA-WR HS students Seth Toner and Hannah Sabola were welcomed at the WR meeting.
Julia's would host the EA Christmas party on December 9th.
The WR board agreed to buy 24 bags of Green Mountain coffee for resale. The bags would sell for $10 per, with a per bag $3 net profit.

The Rotary Peace Centers Program has truly transformed my life. After receiving a peace fellowship in 2015, my commitment to peace, human security, and development deepened further.
In my current role as a global impact advisor, I help organizations become more robust, sustainable, and effective in their missions. I draw upon two decades of work with social enterprises, rural women, cooperatives, home-based workers, farmers, artisans, health advocates, and local changemakers. Being based in Canada, I have made contact with all the Rotary clubs in Central Alberta, Edmonton, and Calgary (which I can reach within a few hours), regularly offering support and advice.
