NEWS NOTES & NONSENSE
(This week's program was a great presentation by District public relations rep Allen Stare. RI is in the process of changing our message and visual identity. Take a look.)
The August 1st bulletin was opened by 53% of club members. If you are reading this, you are probably one of the regulars. Either way, thanks for taking a look.
There were 20 members in the house on Thursday. Early arrivals included Red and his posse. Fred, Brad P and Mark V brought up the rear.
Wood River's Tommie Myers was our only visiting Rotarian. Red's kin included wife Helen and daughter Cathy.
The opening was provided by Chris, Rick and Bill, who prayed for 2nd's on ice cream. Amen!
Baked chicken was the entree. It was surrounded by smashed taters, apple stuff, salad and the aforementioned ice cream.
Cathy told us that the District Conference will be held in Macomb on Oct. 16-17. It's shaping up as a event that is full of useful activities.
Lockhaven is open for business. No carts and operating on the honor system for greens fees.
Rhonda was in the building, but only briefly. The Rhonda associated with Joe was not.
Cosmic bingo tickets and flyers are now available.
Sandy likes her neighbor "Batmobile".
And now for something completely different...
Bill and Sherry worked the room helping to put out Fred's chlorine fire. Rick reminded everyone about the bike races in Edwardsville on the 15th. 3-11 PM, downtown. Joe's step-daughter just tied the knot. Can you write your name left handed. No? Pay a $. Rod knew about the Wankel, Allen knew his Mickey's and Mark S knows our district clubs.
Bill asks if you know the fastest way to Dublin?
The Soap Box Derby is on September 12th. Who's in charge?
The cook out is scheduled for September 10th. Everyone is asked to bring an assigned side dish.
The Chile Supper will be held at RHS in October. Exact date TBA.
Joe, Chris and Mark S have begun preliminary talks about our basketball tournament in late January/early February.
Sandy and Sherry were 'forced' to sit near the front of the room. The usually high quality table talk went south from there.
Mark S covered for Cory.
The $70 50-50 jackpot was left on the table by Bill, Lori and Paul.
District Governor Steve Hopper will be visiting this week (20th). Roger and Kathy say that he is a most interesting fellow (in the world?). Come and enjoy the show. Brush your teeth, comb your hair and don't forget the deodorant!!
That's all from here...have a fine and dry weekend!
