NUTS FOR KNOTS ISSUE
APRIL 7, 2018
NEWS, NOTES & NONSENSE
A KNOTTY SUBJECT
Dave provided his own program, promising everyone that he would increase their knowledge, skills and abilities. No oversell there. He owns two sail boats (12' and 26') so he showed us how to tie several useful knots that could be used at sea (Alton pool/Horseshoe Lake) or on land. The video has been posted.
23 members were in the house. Dave, Darren and "Easter" Dick were the first to arrive. Post-noon arrivals included Patty, Mark2, Paul and Rhonda.
It was taco Thursday, shells and/or wraps, but no mexicorn :( . Salad, cookies and peach pie were also available. Let's thank Sherry for rearranging the table so that Wendell could find the taco lettuce.
The District Assembly will be held in Springfield in April 21st. No charge to attend.
Dates to remember: After lunch on the April 19th we will adjourn to the Piasa Armory for time on the firing range. Our scholarship students will join us on April 26th.
Dick has returned from his Florida snow bird duties, welcome back.
Bill described Dave as a "renaissance man". Your thoughts?
More snow? When will winter end????
Rhonda has no final Bingo Mania results yet. By the way, has grandpa and his gang paid us for our Christmas work yet?
Sherry put out a bunch of empty plastic Easter eggs as an April Fools joke. The children are now in therapy.
We welcomed Wood River's Tommie Meyer.
Don't forget that Lori has your BaseballMania tickets. Take what you want, use what you take.
Sandy was happy to announce that the ice cream shop is open (Airline & 9th).
SAA "Queenie" took the day off. She "knighted" Chris2 to cover her duties. He drafted Nathan to take care of the collection duties. Chris noted that since it was opening day for the Cardinals and the 1st day of the Masters golf tournament, he would pose trivia questions about tennis (much to Allen's chagrin). Answers included Federer, Borg, Laver and Conners.
50-50 tickets were drawn by Tommie, Brad1 and Rick, who promptly traded the scratch-off to Sandy for a $.
Opening duties were performed by Nathan, Patty and Dave.
That's all from here, have a fine and dry weekend.

By Laura Higgs, chair-elect of the Satellite Club of Camelback Crossroads, 2004-05 Rotary Youth Exchange Student
Our club in Phoenix, Arizona, is a small one. We have about 25 members total, between our morning and evening segments. While cacti typically cover the arid landscape, tree shade in parks is an important aspect of community development in Arizona, and we knew planting one tree per Rotarian was one of RI President Ian Riseley’s goals for the Rotary year.
When we spoke with our city government officials, they were excited about the opportunity to collaborate and pool resources and expertise. We jumped on the chance, and five months of planning and multiple committee meetings later, we accomplished the almost impossible. Rotarians in Tempe planted 124 trees in one day, with the help of Camelback Crossroads Satellite, Tempe Rio Salado, and with money from a Tempe trust from a former Tempe Downtown Rotarian.
