Membership Month: Service across generations

This August, we’re celebrating Membership and New Club Development Month by highlighting what strengthens our service: people of all ages working as equal partners to serve their communities.

The image above captures this in action. Rotary and Interact members from District 6450, Illinois, came together to volunteer at the home of Paul Harris, Rotary’s founder, in Chicago — preserving our history while showing what Rotary looks like today: intergenerational teams collaborating side by side.

This is more than collaboration. It’s ensuring youths help shape what we do and how we do it.

Across Rotary, youths and adult members are:

Co-leading projects that respond to real community priorities
Sharing decision making, from project planning to implementation
Bringing complementary strengths: fresh perspectives, local knowledge, and experience
As we honor Rotary’s legacy, we also make space for the next generation to help lead it.

Call to action
Share your story: Highlight how youths and adults partner as equals.
Co-create a project: Work with Interact club members from the start.
Seek youths’ input: Ensure youths help shape decisions.

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

OBJECT OF ROTARY

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
First:The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.
Second: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society.
Third: The application of the idea of service in each Rotarian's personal business, and community life.
Fourth: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
