  •  Our program was presented by retired Navy chaplain and retired Methodist minister, Bob Phillips. He's a very entertaining person. Take a gander at the video.
  • Early arrivals were represented by Bill, Sherry, Mark1 and Pat. Among the last of 18 members in the house were Dave, Rod, Matt and Brad2.
  • Our speaker advised us to not refer to him as a "friend" of Bill, but as an "acquaintance". We get it. (Actually they have been friends through a long ministry career.)
  • Prodigal Fred returned as Queenie's escort. Good to see him.
  • Lunch featured oven "roasted" pasta in red sauce, carrots, Rotary g-beans, salad, rolls, cookies and a strawberry something.
  • Sherry kept waiting for Sandy to arrive. One wag suggested that she may be "assessing" the ice cream shop across the street from her office.
  • Bill returned from the gathering of 800 fellow Methodist ministers in Peoria. His enthusiasm resulted in a broken bell.
  • Don't forget to RSVP to Lori's email reference the Installation Dinner.
  • Rhonda is recovering from her four screws and a plate ankle surgery. We wish her a speedy recovery.
  • Next Thursday will be Prez Bill's final board meeting.
  • SAA Queenie recruited Chris2 to collect the $$. Dave and Rick had announcements. Not here last week, pay a $. Not on an airplane the past week, pay a $. Trivia topics covered cows, soccer and 1990's homes. Happy Rotary anniversary to Erin-11years.
  • Mark1 reports that Chris1 had just returned from Italy, with an unplanned overnight stay in the Toronto airport.
  • Both Bill and guest Bob have an abundance of knowledge about the "Land of Goshen".
  • Lori still has BaseballMania tickets left.
  • The meager $13 50-50 was left to grow by Mark 3 and Sherry, who also won the dud scratch-off.
  • Opening duties were performed by Wendell, Mark3 and Dave
  • That's all from here, have a fine and dry Fathers's Day weekend.

FIND YOUR ROAD TO ROTARY

By Rebecca Fry, a member of the Rotary E-Club of Silicon Valley
In 2005, I made a seemingly small decision to apply for “science camp.” It happened to be the Rotary-sponsored, National Youth Science Forum. Fast forward 13 years and I’ve been heavily involved in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA), Rotaract and most recently I took the next exciting leap and joined the Rotary E-Club of Silicon Valley. Selecting the best Rotary club to join was an 18-month journey.
As a past-president of Sydney City Rotaract, I had existing relationships with a couple of local Rotary clubs in the city, however it was challenging for me to attend their weekly meetings based on meeting location, time and in some circumstances, cost.
A Rotaract friend invited me to attend one of their e-club meetings back in early 2017. I’ll admit I was a little hesitant at first as I love the personal interaction, friendships, and networking that stem from being involved in my local Rotaract club and I was unsure if an e-club would be able to provide me with the same personal connection. Soon I came to appreciate the meeting format, online initiatives, and international network. But there were still some questions I needed to answer – Why was I joining Rotary? and What did I want to both give and get out of my Rotary membership? These are two critical questions that I anticipate many of us don’t answer, yet are essential for us to find the right club. To continue reading, link here https://tinyurl.com/y8k49lz3

  • I was so surprised you could have knocked me over with a fender.
  • Regret to inform you that the hand that rocked the cradle has kicked the bucket.
  • From now on, I'm watching everything you do with a fine-tuned comb.
  • That guy's out to butter his own nest.
  • I would not have gone in there over my dead body.
  • He threw a wet towel on the meeting.
