RODNEY PRESENTS GLADYS HER PHF AWARD
NEWS-NOTES-NONSENSE
Thursday's program was a classification chat by LeonardB about his distinguished career in law. He framed his presentation around the ethical issues he faced while serving as an attorney in criminal defense , prosecution, misdemeanor/traffic court, municipal and elder law. He reminded everyone that the power of attorney is a powerful document. Interesting stuff. Thanks Leonard.
RandyN has returned home and is awaiting biopsy results. Continue to keep him in your prayers.
Also, please prayerfully remember ChrisL and his family as they deal with the tragic loss of his father this past week.
Don't forget about JohnP's retirement Open House TODAY (June12) from 1-3 @ Rustic Roots-200 W. Ferguson.

Congrats to ErinP as she celebrates 14 years of club service and PatA on his third anniversary.

It was great to have HenryS in the house for the first time. JoeS pointed out that Henry and JohnP represent 52 consecutive years of outstanding leadership at EA-WR HS.

The Cards continue to flounder. Here's an opportunity to bring a bit of excitement to the baseball season. LoriP still has packs of 10 Baseball Mania tickets available. Each ticket sells for $10. Complete the bottom of each ticket and return with payment to her. We keep 65% of each ticket sold. The contest begins in July and runs 10 weeks. There are 35 weekly winners, from $10 to $250. If you win, look for a check in the mail.

BillP pinch hit for Prez Chris.
We had a full house on Thursday helping to recognize two Paul Harris award recipients. RodneyD presented 103 year old (that's not a typo) Gladys Kelly with an award for her years of church related service. She is the aunt of AllenH's wife Pam (who reports that Gladys is still going strong!). Jacksonville Rotarian and Rotary District 6460 Youth Services Chair CathyJo Littleton-Wahl presented a Paul Harris award to Allison, a former member of the Jacksonville club, who had recently relocated to the Godfrey area.
Julia's super jumbo chicken nuggets and biscuits 'n gravy were the featured entrees. Crunchy fries, corn, salad, German Chocolate cake and cookies were also on the buffet.
JoeS found it interesting that, for the first time in his life, he is not working but his son is! Parenting is such fun.
By the time we see each other again BillP should be holding one fine slice of Grandpa's Wonderland pie. Yum!
We will be assisting the Heavenly Peace project the afternoon of August 5th making beds for kids. Put it on your calendar.
LeonardB's attempt to make-up in Jerseyville was met with an empty parking lot.
Opening duties were smoothly handled by BarbO, ChrisH and RodneyD.
BarbO shared a flyer announcing the South Rox farmers market this summer (see the flyer below for details).
Among the last to arrive were JohnP, PaulH, TommieM and MikeK.
As the deck dwindles, the $195 jackpot was left on the table by card pulling regulars LoriP and MarkA. JasonW received the scratch-off.

The WR club was promoting the Rotary Family Day at Busch Stadium in support of the club's dictionary project.
MarkS introduced the EA program speaker, John Calpert, from the Corn to Ethanol Research Center @ SIUE.
JohnP served as the music accompanist.
WR Prez Elect Tyler Pitchford made a visit to the EA club meeting.
DonnaK missed her opportunity to claim the $81 jackpot. JoeS missed his chanced at the $44 EA jackpot.
AllenH handled the 4-way @ the EA meeting.
JeanK paid a happy fine in honor of her 23rd year of wedded bliss.
BradL was spotted at the EA meeting without a limp.
PaulG paid a happy fine for the privilege of awarding a Shelter Insurance scholarship.
Factoid-$6,300 was the net for the first Color Run event. How much can we raise in 2022??

Vaccination education for all our neighborhoods

From my town of Plano, a suburb of Dallas, Texas, we see the virus devastating lives in India. Last year, COVID-19 affected people overseas, and then took hold in America. We can counter the threat and stay safe by getting people vaccinated.
Most people have access to information on COVID-19 vaccines. But we discovered many minority residents do not. Motivated by a wish to help our fellow citizens, we partnered with our city government to inform this group.
As of late April, 61% of Plano residents 16 years and older had received a COVID-19 vaccine. Of that population, 42% are fully vaccinated, with the rest waiting to receive their second dose.
We hand-out door hangers in apartments and neighborhoods. We’re helping people with language issues. Those with limited internet. Others who don’t have time.
