• Picnic in the Park-Our August 29th meeting will be held at the Rotary pavilion in Belk Park. Take the first road to the right after you enter the park from Rock Hill Rd.

• On Thursday we had the pleasure of hearing from a couple of speakers. First up was Robin Carlton, the Godmother of the Back to School Bash that is being held today. Robin thanked everyone who made a donation to the event that will benefit over 200 young folks in need. She is so proud of the fact that businesses and individuals are more than willing to donate. This will be the first year where all clothing will be new. Each child receives two clothing outfits, a haircut or styling, a backpack, food, school supplies, personal care products, shoes, underwear and lunch. Robin closed with this quote from a child last year after he saw everything inside the rec center  "Mom, is this Disney World?" How touching. Rusty Ingram, Director of Business Development with BJC Alton Memorial, fired up his laptop and made a slide presentation. His presentation featured a partnership program with the SIUC School of Medicine to provide residence positions at the hospital. It's hoped that the long term benefit will encourage the residents to continue their MD careers in the community. Rusty also indicated that there will be a phase 2 expansion at their Edwardsville facility to include more in depth testing.

• JoeS gave us the details about our upcoming foundation golf scramble on October 25th. Registration starts @ 11 with a shotgun start @ noon. A foursome will cost $400 and include a BBQ lunch and steak dinner. There are five sponsorship levels available from $100 to $1000. He then distributed flyers and encouraged everyone to share them with the golfers you know, friends, family and social media. It's going to be a fun day on a beautiful late October Friday. All proceeds will be used for community enhancement with a goal of making a $15,000 contribution every other year.
• MarkA dreams about being an Olympic table tennis medalist. That ain't happenin', but he does have a good story about playing agains a guy who was using a credit card instead of a paddle.

• SAA Patti fined everyone a $ who was not wearing a badge AND had not eaten ice cream in the past week.

• 17 members dined on BBQ chicken breast, quartered red potatoes, mac 'n cheese, rolls, salad and brownies.
• The  $188 50-50 jackpot was unclaimed by "where's my ticket" BillP, and PaulH. The scratchie went to PattiA.
