NEWS, NOTES & NONSENSE
(Thanks to Lori for providing the following update)
RHONDA AND BINGO BILL
Food fare: potato soup, broccoli cheese soup, some kind of ?salad sandwiches, green type salad and something cobblerish looking.
OUR FAVORITE SERVER, KAREN, IS BACK!!!!
Leading off the festivities: Brad L. w/the pledge, Rhonda was up for the 4-way and the good Rev. Bill blessed food fare.
Chili Dinner: Prez Roger announced he still had $312 in outstanding ticket sales. To date profits stand at $1037 and some change, which is about $500 less than last year.
Cosmic Bingo: After everything was said and done the East Alton & Wood River Clubs split $4212 evenly.
If you didn’t get a Habitat for Humanity t-shirt for volunteering, please see Mark A. He received positive feedback on our workmanship. Who knew we knew how to insulate?
Bell ringing is some time in December. The date varies depending on whom you ask. The RIGHT answer is December 12th! Mark your calendar and plan to ring-a-ling!
Christmas Party Update: December 3rd at High Flyers Grille. Mark your choice of steak kabobs or marinated chicken. Reindeer games and merriment are included…unless your merriment requires adult beverages, then the cash bar is available.
The Turkey Fund is now at $181. There will be two more opportunities to make a donation. Thanks for your support. All monies will be given to Operation Blessing.
Poinsettia’s: Delivery is scheduled for Friday, December 18th at 9 AM. Meet at Jeffrey’s. Please let Lori know if you can help deliver and if you know of a shut in or maybe someone that has recently lost a loved one to spread some Christmas cheer!
Basketball Tournament: January 30th. No new news.
Shameless plugs: Dave Miller. announced that the air arena won a Captain of the RiverBend award at the Growth Association last week! Joe ponied up a buck to state that Dave had the BEST speech of the afternoon and assures the club that Dave MUST have mentioned Rotary as he mentioned every other organization out there!
SAA: On this day trivia answers: McClellan, George Foreman, 1976-Jimmy Carter. What are the questions?
Speakers: Alyssa Daniels/WR Park & Rec & Lindsey Herron/WR Library shared their collaborative efforts to provide fun & educational experiences for youth of just about all ages…as long as you’re a youth!
Gambling Addiction: $12 pot. Lori & Wendell both had a crack at it and Mark A. got the scratch-off. The Prez announced that the pot will continue to grow… WHAT?!?
Rick has put together a photo book featuring "all things Red" Littleton that will be presented to Red as a Christmas gift from the club. There is a blank page in the album where everyone at the meeting on the 12th will be asked to pen a short personal note to Red.
LET'S MAKE IT A HABIT
For the first time in quite sometime we had the chance to roll up our sleeves and do some physical community involvement. Mark 3 did a fine job of coordinating (AKA herding cats) the 13 willing Rotarians who installed insulation in the Habitat for Humanity house in Roxana. In by noon, out by 3.
Lori took a bunch of nice pix and they are available for viewing in the Habitat photo album link. many of them aere worthy of adding your own caption.(For some of us, there's too much of our good side showing!)
Bill and Mark 1 were eager to get going.
Roger had a heck of a time keeping track of his staple gum. As for his phillips screwdriver???
It was a beautiful day to dine al fresco on the porch. Lunch feature dump cake.
Wendell (who was that masked man?) served as the chief crack finder while Mark 3 was the man with the caulk gun chasing him.
Rick got to work with Patty and Sherry. They finished tow rooms while everyone else finished one. (Did I misremember that.)
It seems that Fred was under the weather, while Dave, Joe and Rhonda were busy dining on escargot and schmoozing with Monica. At least Dave has his "Cookie and the Captain" hat to show for it.
Paul wanted to put his initials in the fresh cement, but one of the LCCC construction crew told him to take a hike.
Chris was very proud of his 3-way gloves.
A half a dozen workers met at Sherry's "home away form home" and did a post-event analysis. Everyone was thankful that Mark 3 was there to keep things rolling. Also, the suds were plenty cold.
COMING ATTRACTIONS
This space will be used to provide current information about club/community events.
Roger is still looking for outstanding chili $$$.If you took a bag(s) of chili, it's $10 per. He is also looking for suggestion on how we can increase attendance next year. If you have any ideas, let him know.
The Christmas party will be held on December 3rd at High Flyers grill @ the airport. Rhonda, Patty and Bill are working on the details.
Christmas flowers wil be delivered on December 18, starting at 9AM from Jeffrey's flowers. If you would like to assist let Lori know.
Don't forget about Salvation Army bell ringing on December 12th.
The basketball tournament will take place on January 30th. Joe, Chris and Fred are coordinating.
