NEWS NOTES & NONSENSE
  • (The font for this issue is changed from Tahoma to Arial. If this presents a viewing problem let me know.)
  • 16 members were in the house.  Mark S was the 1st to arrive (11:47), Joe the last.
  • Lori was an early food line adopter. She found pork cutlets smothered in vegetables, slaw, apples in secret sauce, salad, Danish and cookies. That's pretty much what Wendell found too. He was very impressed with the pastel flavored napkins.
  • We had several members sporting Cardinal red, including 'Red' himself. Who will celebrating his 88th natal day on the 29th.
  • Brad L was subbing for Roger and Rick was covering for Bill.
  • Brad P, Paul and Red opened the meeting.
  • All our "Mark's" were present and accounted for, for now. Mark A. was back and Mark S. is off to visit the Magic Kingdom.
  • Mark V noted that his son is now at four years of being cancer free and he is doing great. Wonderful news indeed. The group has a bit of a problem with the Incan empire, but did know all about an atom. Corn is now the official state veggie and the song "Another Polka Celebration" will soon be declared the official state polka. The power of the Chicago Pulaski clan never ceases to amaze.
  • Allen reported that his funky back is improving.
  • Our guests included Steve Imel and "uncle" Leonard Berg.
  • Our partnership with the Wood River club for Cosmic Bingo night will take place at the WR VFW on Oct. 24th. Leonard want's all the workers to wear a Tom Wolfe white suit so that you can been seen under the black lights. Paul offered an interesting take on what the 'cosmic' part of the bingo was all about. Ask Steve to explain.
  • Chris thought it would be amusing if Steve would do his comedy routine for the program.
  • Mark S. is convinced that the Birds don't need a big trade to win the World Series.
  • You can have a trailer in the county part of Madison.
  • Rick explained how two programs shot craps on him so he turned to plan C, showing some photos taken on a recent Baltic Sea cruise with his wonderful wife Betsy (she will be proofreading this).
  • Mark A. has put the new names of our scholarship students on the respective plaques.
  • Rick pulled his number along with Red's and Chris'. The $48 jackpot rolls.
  • That's all from here...have a fine and dry week
