Prez Bill took the gavel to ring in his year as our club president. We wish him great success!
Thursday's program presenter was the Roxana School District Superintendent Deb Kreutzrager. She had a slide presentation that covered a variety of school related issues. Deb stressed that she sees the school district providing more than just educational services, she likes to use the word "family" to describe wraparound services that are available to all students. 56% of district students are considered low income. Deb sees education as the equalizer helping students to increase their quality of life. She concluded the slide show with a brief, but dramatic, video about the impact that dropping out of school has on most individuals. Deb ended by sharing her personal experience with the Rotary Long Term Exchange program. Her family hosted Daniella from Chile in 2017 and her daughter spent a school year in Chile the following year. It was a game changer for her daughter as well as Deb's family.

Prez Bill reminded everyone that the Soap Box event is on the horizon.

The Slide Right In (SRI) buffet crowd included JohnP, ChrisH, MikeK and GeorgeM.

Prez Bill grabbed the SAA bucket and asked each table a trivia Q. We guessed each one correctly. Reflecting on one of the skills he learned in seminary school, he fined everyone a
$ for attending the meeting. An empty plate/bucket is a no-no!
Opening duties were aptly handled by MarkSm, MIkeK and MarkV.
12 members dined on Italian beef, cheezy red taters, mixed veggies, torpedo rolls, Caesar salad and cake.
The $58 50-50 jackpot was unclaimed by BradP and WendellR. BradP also claimed the scratch-off.

2024-25 President Stephanie A. Urchick ready for a winning season
An avid sports fan, 2024-25 RI President Stephanie A. Urchick is well-positioned to light the lamp, clear the bases, and split the uprights. Whatever the sports metaphor, she’s destined to keep Rotary in the winner’s circle. This year, Urchick is urging Rotary members to look at their clubs and find ways to make them “simply irresistible.” Peace will also be a significant focus of her presidency. She will lead a special presidential peace conference, Healing in a Divided World, in Istanbul, Türkiye, 20-22 February 2025. The WR club heard a presentation about the Bethalto Villas at Richland Estates development while the EA members discovered the new Confluence Tower in Hartford.
Congrats were offered to GeorgeM and new mother Teresa on the birth of their daughter.
LoriP announced that there was still time to purchase Baseball Mania tix.
The WR board determined that there would be a $10 assessment to all members to cover the meal costs for the scholarship students and guests who attended the Installation of Officers Banquet.
Other than JoeS, Chef Bob's catfish fritters were a big hit. Joe did enjoy the pineapple upside down cake dessert.
The Riverbend Rotary Charter Night would be held on July 29th @ Lockhaven CC. All local Rotarians are invited to attend.
CoryG, PaulH and BradP were deemed late, later and latest.
PatB and JeanK were program hosts.
Program of the Year ballots were being distributed at the EA meeting.
GeorgeT was the meeting greeter.
WendellR was sporting a very interesting "imported" watch.
JohnP led the singing of Red River Valley. (Is he a fan of Oklahoma or Texas?)

9:20 a.m. An office employee called 911 to test that their phone line was set up.
10:07 a.m. A Kalispell resident reported seeing a cat that looked “sneezy” hanging around an abandoned house.
10:41 a.m. A rooster kept sneaking onto a golf course.
12:46 p.m. Officers spoke to a man about several complaints of his barking dog. The man stated his dog has anxiety and they were working through it.
1:12 p.m. A cat was wreaking havoc on the neighbor’s garden plots.
7:40 p.m. A woman stole her cousin’s skateboard and took it across state lines.
9:42 p.m. A man in a full-faced mask that “looked like the Joker” was driving around Kalispell..
